Shellstar padded around the moor part of riverclan's territory with occasional puddles and lakes. The sky settled into a dark cyan - blue colour, Shellstar setting out at dawn for the day to get his mind on something else than all of his dreams these past days. Hearing something rustle in the bushes, Shellstar stopped. Shuffling a bit closer, he pounced, the bush crumbled under his weight from snow lightly covering it and from the bush getting frost - bitten. Revealing a mouse, he swiftly held his paw down on the mouse, biting its neck. He triumphantly carried it away from the bush and buried it, setting out once again to hunt more.
By the time Shellstar was finished, the first light blink of their ancestors began to show. He looked up for a second, savouring the soft wind that brushed his pelt. He padded away, gathering all of his prey and heading back to camp. Dropping his prey in the fresh kill pile, he headed to his den to get some well - earned rest.
. . .
Shellstar woke up, but it wasn't a dream. He was staring outside his den, unable to move. Terror screeched inside him. I can't move! He thought desperately. A dark figure came into the den, taking the posture of a lean, muscular cat. Light appeared out of nowhere, showing that it was harestar. Shellstar wanted to screech to alert his clan mates of the sudden break - in, but his voice was useless. He couldn't talk. Harestar approached closer, making Shellstar want to jump up and scratch harestar's muzzle. "Weakling. You know what's going to happen."
. . .
Dovefeather woke up and yawned sleepily, getting up and looking to Rivershade as her eyes were locked with dovefeathers'. "Dovefeather, May you lead a patrol?" Dovefeather sighed and nodded. "I'll ask if splotchpaws, icybush and dropheart want to come with." Dovefeather mewed, re - entering the warriors den. She looked to the sleeping pelts, seeing splotchpaws and dropheart. "Hey, we need to go on a border patrol." Dovefeather mewed in a soft tone, not wanting to wake the warriors with a start. They both yawned and nodded, padding outside the den to get some fresh kill before they left for the patrol. "Icybush?" A cat shuffled awake, looking at Dovefeather. "Come on, we need to go on a border patrol." Icybush sighed but didn't object. Dovefeather and Icybush joined splotchpaws and dropheart, eating prey before the patrol would start.
As the patrol headed out, dovefeather lead. They went to the thunderclan territory mark first, wanting to make sure no thunderclan cats were to cross the marker. Making a fresh marker, dovefeather padded beside the marker with the group behind her. Sounds from the forest beyond the border marker sounded. "Everyone, quick! Up a tree! Our fresh markers will mask our scents." Dropheart called. The patrol followed, hiding in a tree. Paws thumped, coming closer. It's happening. Dovefeather felt determined to win the fight when Shellstar had first announced thunderclan called war on riverclan, but now, she felt as nervous as ever. "Come on, hurry! Riverclan must have saw us by now." A loud voice rang through the forest. "Run!" Dovefeather whispered to her group. She jumped from the tree as her group followed closely behind. Racing far, her lungs felt like they would burst from effort. "Shellstar!" Icybush gasped. The black and white leader looked at the cats. "Huh?"
Dovefeather gasped as well, but still spoke. "Thunderclan's coming!"
