Dr Edwards Hays
29th June 1871

London.
There was only silence now.
Once a thriving city, moving forward in industry. Now a stain left on a fallen kingdom.
First the town's and the villages succumbed to the great plague, then the cities. One by one. Thousands burnt at the hands of friends, families and lovers.
London closed its borders and built up their defences as the plague tried to penetrate. But it always found a way. Invisible. Hidden in plain sight. By 1860, East London had fallen. By 1861, Prince Albert, ravaged with plague, took his own life.
A final stand was taken. Walls erected around the few unaffected districts. Hammersmith, Fulham, Kensington, Chelsea and Westminster. A beacon of hope.

My name is Doctor Edwards Hays, and I leave my account of the Great Plague for all to read.
