The Covenant
16th July 1871
As you read about my history, there will be a shadow always lingering throughout my words. A shadow in the form of The Covenant.
As Lord Grey asked me if they knew, I could sense a growing fear in his voice. They were a living myth. Like a story you tell children so they behave. But the Covenant were very real.
Governments dictate the world order. They rule the many. Yet as our Government fell another rose from their ashes. How do you control a country thrown into chaos? How do you decide who lives and who dies? They were brutal. As the walls were constructed around the city they slaughtered the thousands who were simply not worthy to survive, or left them to turn into the beasts as the plague took them.
They wore the masks of the plague doctors and stood in full view of the city as they created New London. Now they were simply whispers. They vanished as the last nail was hammered into the wall. But they were still here. Watching, always watching.
