“One summer night in Durango, Mexico. My cousins and i decided to hang out and make a bond fire. Just our way of catching up with each other and telling stories. We were by the river, the fire was burning, and the flames were shaking. The bells rang letting us know it was 11 o’clock at night. Suddenly it all went dead silent, nobody laughed, nobody talked. We could only hear the rustling of the cold wind. Then a woman came from the woods. We heard a painful and muffled cry ‘Ohhh!..my children..!’ That’s when we knew it was time to leave. Do you know who we’re talking about?” Andy asks not taking her eyes off of the group “La Llorona!” Laddie practically shouted, answering Andy right away “Yes. We are talking about La Llorona, the weeping woman. A woman with a ghost like appearance. Dressed in white with long dark hair, who floats in the air with a long soft veil covering her horrifying face. She comes from the West and goes towards the North. Wandering and crying around in the streets..” While she spoke the boys were silent watching as she went on, “La Llorona is a ghost of Latin American Folklore. According to rural tradition she is the lost soul of a woman who lost her children and wanders around trying to find them. And scaring anyone who sees her or hears her with her horrible cry. It is a sad story, a horror story of love sickness and betrayal. That has been passed on from generation to generation. This legend has many different versions depending on the location you are in. But they all agree on something...she always shows up anywhere near water-” “When is the story gonna start?” Marko interrupted sounding bored already. Dwayne smacks him upside the head for interrupting, only to make Paul burst with laughter. They were getting rowdy, David turns and gave a look to the boys, as if he was telling them to shut up. This quickly makes them stop. Marko frowned at Dwayne then turned his attention back to Andy letting her continue. “One of the most popular versions tells the story of a beautiful young woman of humble origins. She was the lover of a nobleman. For a time they were very happy and, had three children together. But one day he left her with no explanation. Soon after she finds out he was marrying someone else, someone much younger. This of course leaves the beautiful woman so distraught. Heartbroken she decided to take revenge on the father of the children in the most horrible way imaginable. One night she wakes the children up and takes them out for a walk to the river near their home. Blind by anger a terrible rage possessed her and she could feel all the love she felt for them turn into hate. She drowned them until they were all dead..” Laddie moved closer to Dwayne growing more and more scared as Andy went on with the story. Marko and David's expression became more serious, Paul was just quiet very  entranced with the story "..Realizing what she had done she ran desperately into the river until she was consumed by the waters. She made that terrible cry, ‘AAYY!! MIS HIJOS!! MIS HIJOS! DONDE ESTAN MIS HIJOS!??’ and disappeared. From that moment on La Llorona became a wandering soul. She wanders around the streets looking for her lost children. Crying and yelling hence her name. People say La Llorona attracts children who misbehave so, she can take them to the rivers as an offering to be forgiven..” She paused looking right at Laddie then moving her gaze to the boys “..She also seduces adults with her beauty to take revenge on the one man who betrayed her. Trapping their soul with her horrifying face and screams. She’s out there still wandering aimlessly...still looking. Waiting for her next victim” she trailed off finally ending her story. Laddie didn’t move or say a thing he just held onto Dwayne as tight as he could. He was terrified. Marko on the other hand noticed this and makes a comment to break the silence in the room “Okay, nice story but i still dont bu-” before he could even finish his sentence there was a loud deathly wail coming from the back of the cave. Everyone turned to look at the direction where the wails were coming from. “AAAAAAYYY!!!!! MIS HIJOS!!! DONDE ESTAN MIS HIJOS!!?!??!!!???” Wide eyed they stood up to see a dark figure slowly walking towards them, still wailing. Dwayne didn’t have to be told twice by Laddie, they both walked out of the cave heading straight for the exist. David was very quiet and serious trying to keep up the calm and collected appearance. But as the figure walked closer and closer. As the wails got louder and louder, he just thought to himself, Nope..i already put up with enough bullshit here. Nope! And walks right out of there. Not uttering a single word.  Paul was frozen where he stood, his eyes fixed on the dark figure as it slowly approached them walking towards the light of the fire. The cries sent chills down his spine, and kept him from moving. Marko began to look agitated. He grabs Paul by the jacket and starts dragging him out of there, leaving Andy all by herself in the cave. She looked at the direction the where the boys had left and then back to the dark figure. Once Andy was sure she was completely alone, she walks up towards the figure containing her laughter. The figure stopped and began to remove their veil “So how’d i do?” A giggling Star asked revealing that it was her all along in costume, she was smiling at Andy. “I think you did great.” Andy says giving her a high five “You think this’ll keep them from misbehaving?” asked Star “Eh, you already know our boys their gonna keep being little punks. Laddie for sure though he’ll listen to us after this..poor little guy..” Andy giggles then continues “But one things for sure though” “Oh? Like what?” “They’re gonna have some pretty wicked nightmares for a couple of days” Andy says laughing to herself, still pretty amazed they pulled off that prank on everyone. The girls weren’t gonna let them live it down that was for sure. But came to an agreement to keep it between the two for a good few weeks. To peacefully enjoy their little win. Paul was right...Nothing like a good ol scary story by the fire.
