Laddie sat alone by the fire in the main room of the cave, drawing away in his sketchbook. David was passing by but stops on his tracks noticing how quiet Laddie was. “Why are you oh so quiet?” he muttered to himself with a bit of suspicion and a lot of curiosity. David sat himself down on the ground right next to Laddie peaking over his shoulder. He could see Laddie draw what looked like a girl with long dark hair, big white eyes peaking through the strands of hair that covered her face. Her clothing was torn and she looked like she was standing in shallow water. “Shes pretty ugly..who’s she supposed to be?” David says as he grabbed the sketchbook to get a closer look at the drawing. “HEY! GIVE THAT BACK IM NOT FINISHED!!” protested Laddie trying to take his sketchbook back from David. But David held it up, keeping it from Laddie’s reach. “Hold on i just want to look at it” David says with a calm tone in his voice making a gesture to Laddie to sit back down. Laddie sat down and watched as David stared at the page. “Who’s this?” He asked, with a curious brow. “Oh that’s La Llorona” Laddie answered looking up at his older brother. David looked at the page then back to Laddie, “The what?” He asks again “I said that’s La Llorona, The Weeping Woman” Laddie answered this time translating for David. “Hmmm...Well why is she weeping?” David asked giving back Laddie’s sketchbook waiting for him to answer. Laddie was silent for a few minutes then began to speak giving David an answer, “Well she’s weeping because she drowned her children..And she’s trying to look for them” he said nonchalantly. This on the other hand definitely got David’s attention, where the hell did he hear this?? he thought to himself, not realizing he furrowed his brows making him look upset. Laddie closed his sketchbook kinda getting the feeling that David wasn’t too amused about hearing that. Like the rest of the group, David doesn’t like hearing or seeing people hurting children. Its one of the things that really irks him. “Where’d you hear that?” David questioned Laddie, but it sounded more like a command than a question. “Oh..well Andy.” he trailed off a bit hesitant on continuing “Yeah?” David pushed, awaiting Laddie to speak up. “Well.....Andy told me about her (La Llorona) earlier today when we were walking at the beach, coming back from the boardwalk..” he paused looking down playing with his hands “..And well i wasn’t really listening to her earlier and she told me ‘don’t run off like that! La Llorona will take you if you wander around by yourself’” He finally finished, not looking up at David almost as if he was expecting a lecture from him. David just tilted his head still looking down at his little brother “It’s just a story Laddie. No need to be scared. And you should always listen to your big sisters” he says in a reassuring tone patting Laddie on the back. This gave Laddie some comfort and started smiling. “What’s just a story??” came a voice from the back, making both David and Laddie turn to look over their shoulder. There stood Paul, Dwayne and Marko. They had just came back from feeding, and they all looked curious themselves. “What did we miss?” asked Dwayne as he sat himself next to Laddie giving him a warm smile. Paul and Marko followed behind sitting down with them. They all sat on the ground in a small circle looking at Laddie with a childish grin on their faces. David nudges Laddie gently signalling him to go on ahead and show the boys his drawing. So he does and each of the boys looked at the drawing as if they had to try and figure out the puzzle. This makes David chuckle it entertained him to see his brothers look lost. “It’s about a woman that drowns her children, and she’s like some ghost? Right Laddie? Some ghost that’ll get you if you wander off” he tells his brothers. “Wait..she drowned her kids?” Asked Dwayne he wasn’t expecting to hear that neither did Paul or Marko. They turned to look at eachother then back at Laddie. "That's pretty disturbing.." says Marko who wasn't so happy hearing that. “But it’s just some story so no need to be worried about it” comments Paul, waving his hand as if he was shooing a fly away. “Oh just a story?” they heard a soft voice coming from the entrance of the cave that lead you back out to the beach. Andy stood there her arms crossed and leaning on the wall looking right at the group. She then walks over to sit with the group, just across from them. The only thing that separated them was the fire. “Yeah i guess its just a story but its still a pretty messed up one, and very scary.” she said looking over them. “Oh don’t tell me you believe all that crap do you mama? Its a folk tale” Marko commented looking very unconvinced. Andy just nodded with a shy smile on her face, she looked at him as if she almost wanted to laugh “To some it is..” she remarked. “Sure why not, go ahead tell it to us girl” said Paul who was pretty up for it.“Nothing like a good ol scary story by the fire” he says as he made himself comfortable where he sat. Everyone else made themselves comfortable around the fire. David laid down on his side with his arm supporting his head, Laddie leaning on Dwayne who sat up straight looking at Andy’s direction. Marko laid back on the ground using two pillows for support. Once they were settled, she began to speak.
