Caught In My Feelings

Artemis took a sip of her coffee, trying not to laugh as Wally made a funny face. She loved how goofy he was. "Okay, so, next question to becoming best friends." He said, scrolling through a list on his phone.

Artemis rolled her eyes, he wanted to be friends, and whenever he called her that, it made her heart sting. Granted, she did call him a friend yesterday when he practically asked her out on a date.

"Oh! This is a good one!" He announced, setting his phone down and waiting for Artemis to finish chewing her muffin.

"Childhood scars." Artemis would've spat her muffin out if she hadn't of just swallowed it. "Like, mental or physical scars?" Wally raised an eyebrow at the question.

"Physical I would hope." She hummed and thought for a moment. Thinking about the scars she had that didnt include the fact that her dad is a psycho.

She lifted her t-shirt sleeve, revealing her shoulder and a large scar with it. Wally instantly looked intrigued "I got it from when my sister was using me as a knife throwing target." Wally looked worried, "Sister?" He then asked, bending forward, going to touch the scar.

Artemis noticed this and quickly covered her scar. "She left a while ago, she didnt get along with my dad." Wally didnt respond, just stared at her.

"I mean,we had our differences but Nora and I never did that" The blonde in front of him shrugged. "We're a problematic family." She answered and he laughed "I know that one." He said with a sigh.

Wally then brought his leg up and lifted up his jeans, pointing to a long scar, going from his knee down to his ankle. "I've always been clumsy, but I mean, I'm not to fonf of knives either." Artemis raised an eyebrow and stared at the scar. It was snow white, standing out on his pale skin.

"Knives suck." She joked and Wally breathed out a laugh, shaking his head and putting his leg back down. "I better get going." Wally said, standing up and slinging his bag over his shoulder.

"My dads out of town for a while, maybe we could do homework together?" Artemis could kick herself, what was she doing?! Her brain and her mouth were definitely not in sync right now.

"I mean, I guess." He sighed, shrugging his shoulders, and Artemis couldnt help but have a small smile across her face.

"I thought your dad didn't like it when people were over." Wally then said, as they were walking down the street. "He doesnt, but he wont have to know." The redhead smiled as they kept going.

He stared at her, as she would laugh at his jokes, her genuine happiness. She smacked him lightly in the chest. "That's not okay!" She laughed out at the last joke he said, he shrugged and smiled at her. "I didnt make it! Dick did!"

Dick Grayson and Conner Kent were Wallys closest friends. The three of them were on the football team. Conner played basically all defensive positions he was told too, occasionally an offensive but that was rare, Wally the running back, and Dick the quarter back.

Artemis rolled her eyes in response, and then suddenly turned to a large house. Wally followed her into the house, and looked around. It was very spacious.

"Its nice." He commented, sitting down on the large couch. Artemis sat next to him, grabbing the remote and flipped through the channels.

"I thought you wanted to do homework?" Wally said, after she set the remote back down. "I dont have any homework." Artemis said embarrassed, and Wally raised an eyebrow.

"Let's play a game." He then said, not commenting on her confession. "Never have I ever." He quickly suggested before Artemis could say anything. The blonde stood up and ran to the kitchen, coming back with two bottle of water.

"Never have I ever gotten a knife thrown at me by my sister." Wally said with a smile on his face and Artemis rolled her eyes before taking a drink of water.

An hour later

"Been cheated on." They both drank, before raising an eyebrow at one another. They've definitely gotten to know each other more from this game.

"Linda, she cheated on me many times." Wally said, followed by a laugh. Wally and Linda were a power couple last year, no one knew why they broke up.

"Before I moved here, I had a long relationship with a guy named Cameron." She said, looking down "He did more than cheat." Wally knew not to pry any further.

Instead he just grabbed her hand, she tensed for a moment but then looked up at him and smiled. They stared at each other for a long moment, their eyes didnt wander and just looked at each others eyes.

They slowly began to lean forward, both of them silently kicking themselves, neither of them wanted to get hurt again, but whenever they were in each others presence, they felt so safe.

Then, Wallys phone rang, and he pulled away, even though he was moments away from her lips. "I need to go back home." He said, typing something into his phone.

"I thought your mom was out of town this week?" Artemis said, and Wally smiled at her. "Want me to stay that bad, huh?" He joked, but a slight blush from the recent events aere on his cheeks.

"I cant leave Nora home alone, but," he started, getting up and grabbing his bag. "The first football game of the season is tomorrow night, I'd hope to see you there." Artemis smiled and nodded.

As he left, Artemis found herself staring blankly at the wall, thoughts rushing through her head. They almost kissed! What would happen if they did? It's probably going to be so awkward for them now!

What are they? Friends? An unconfirmed couple? Did she even have feelings for him?  The thought of him made her stomach twist and turn.

Later

"Nora! I'm back!" Wally yelled out as he entered the house, dropping his bag on the chair next to him. He sighed when he didnt see her anywhere, she asked him when he would be here minutes ago.

"Nora Willow Allen!" He yelled out, and there was a crashing sound upstairs, he sprinted up the flight of stairs and into her room in record time.

Swinging the door open, he heard two screams. Nora, and next to her, a boy he was unfamiliar with. "Who's this?" Wally inquired, his worry turning into confusion.

"A friend." Nora answered, the boy nervously looked up at Wally, before standing up and brushing himself off. "I think it's time for your friend to leave." Wally stated, moving aside and gesturing for him to leave the room.

"Bye." The boy said quietly, rushing out of the house, Nora looked up at her older brother angrily. "Its nearly 10, you should be in bed." Wally said, and Nora rolled her eyes.

"You act like you werent with your girlfriend for two hours." The eighth grader retorted, sitting down on her bed.

"Artemis is not my-why do you even care? You know you shouldnt have people over without mom or I knowing!" Wally said, flustered at first. Nora stayed silent and shrugged, pulling her phone out.

"Are you making anything for dinner?" She asked after a few moments of silence. Wally sighed, he knew he wouldnt get anything out of the teen and decided to leave their arguement at that.

"Hotdogs." The redhead responded, turning it back and heading down the stairs. Nora looked almost just like Wally. They both had red hair and freckles, though Nora had dark blue eyes, and Wally emerald green.

The thing is, Wally loved running, while Nora, on the other hand absolutely hated it. The only sports she played were volleyball and occasionally softball, but she would leave for a few seasons, supposedly quitting, but she always made her way back to the sport.

"Sounds good to me."
