I hate my alarm. It's unstoppable ringing and whining and beeping. I throw it against my wall and smile when it breaks and silences.

I pull on a pair of ripped jeans and a grey hoodie. That is me dressing up. I rim my eyes with back kohl, swearing when it smudges.

I grab my bag and rush down the stairs. My mother is sat at the table, wearing a black striped pantsuit and drinking one of her disgusting diet smoothies.
"Sit Mabel,"
"It's Billie," I say, pouring myself a glass of orange juice.
"Its Mabel, now sit,"
I grab my drink and sit next to her. She leans towards me.

"Now tell me about your boyfriend!"
Of course that's the only reason she wants to speak to me.
"Well-" she cuts me off.
"I know he'll probably be some grunge, criminal goth but that doesn't matter. You actually found someone!"

Okay I am officially offended.
"Actually mom he's the quarterback for our school football team,"
At this she laughs, thinking I'm joking.
"I'm serious Mom," When she sees it's the truth she stops.

"Wait really? Are you sure?"
"Of course I'm sure. In fact he's taking me out for dinner tonight,"
"Really? Well then I have to meet this 'popular quarterback' you're apparently dating!"
"You will at the wedding mom,"

For some reason it gives me satisfaction knowing I'm going to prove her wrong.

I gave Sam his Camaro last night as a deposit of sorts. It probably wouldn't help the lie if i still had it. I pull on my faded leather jacket and lace up my combat boots. I shove my phone into my pocket and walk out the door.

I take a longer route to school, enjoying the sun and the feeling of adrenaline coursing though my veins as I accelerate down the quiet suburban streets.

When I pull up at the parking lot I take off my helmet, flattening my helmet hair. Seeing Sam at his usual spot: leaning against his Camaro with his jock friends, I walk towards him.

Even from here I can hear his friend Leo elbow him and say "prepare yourselves for today's pissing contest,"
I scoff, we're not that bad. As I arrive he breaks apart from his group and wraps his huge arms around me.

"Hey gorgeous," He says loud enough for everybody to here.
"Hey babe," I reply. God this is embarrassing.

"Wait what?!" Leo and his friends look shocked and Sam laughs, pushing a stray lock of hair behind my ear. I shiver.

"I see Veronica," He whispers into my neck. I cup his cheek and pull his face towards mine. Our lips move in synch and I run my fingers through his thick golden hair.

"What the hell?!" I can hear Veronica's high pitches scream from the other side of the lot.
We break apart and Sam smiles and steps away. He holds my hands and pulls me towards his group of friends.

"Guys this is my girlfriend," He announces.
"Billie? She's your girlfriend now?" Leo doesn't seem to believe us.
"Yup,"
"The girl you've hated for over five years?"
"Yup,"
"Whatever man. I mean I guess your a cute couple,"

The bell rings and we all walk to class. Sam walks with me, holding my bag.
"You don't have to do this. Nobody's here,"
Sam laughs and throws his arm over my shoulder.
"But I want to,"
"I fucking hate you,"
"I fucking hate you too,"
