Summary

Merida Reid did not grow up as a normal child. She was born into a traveling circus
Her mother a trapeze artist and her father was a causal fling during the circus's traveling. At a young age, Merida exhibited mutant characteristics, but her mother tried to keep them at bay. She did not want her daughter to become a circus pawn in the Ringmaster's show.

Many years later her mother passes away from heart disease when Merida is thirteen, and her emotional state sends her mutant gene to the surface. Both the Ringmaster, and his son Killian, get a front row seat to the outburst.

Merida Reid was a shapeshifter.

Specifically, a tiger.

The Ringmaster wanted to take advantage of her mutant gene for his show. Merida soon became forced into a miserable existence as a slave to the circus. With no one to turn to, she was alone and at the mercy of the traveling circus as a stage show animal.

Escape was useless. She never made it far before Killian caught her, so she finally gave up the hope of ever leaving.

She had accepted her fate.

When she was sixteen, the Ringmaster passed away unexpectedly. Killian took the mantle for himself and became manic, even chaotic. Killian was a true wild card and soon the traveling circus became to be a front for illegal deals, such as guns and drugs.

All the while, Killian obsessively searches for the Ringmaster's Treasure, which is a myth in the circus world. It's an old wive's tale about a mythical hat and wand that will grant the Ringmaster the ultimate power. Killian spoke about it all their lives, but his father never believed in any of it.

Our story picks up when the Avengers are called upon to stop Killian and his illegal underground dealings. Steve has a run in with Merida, who finds out her one way ticket to freedom might just be through Captain America.

The Avengers might have lost sight of their original target, but they gain an ally in Merida. She soon finds herself working alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes to stop Killian, but he wants a final show..one grand finale.
