Chapter 2

Audrey PoV

"You called for me." I said,as I stepped into Calvin's office. My Executive Director,my direct boss.

He's handsome, very handsome,like the handsome that would make girls swoon, but not me. He's just 3 years older than me, and he's made it very clear that he likes me in many occasions but I've turned him down severally too.

Don't get me wrong. He's everything you need in a man. He's caring,he's rich,he's also considerate. But not anymore. I can't take anymore risks for my heart,if it breaks again I don't think I can live on.

"Yeah,sit down." He answered looking at me. Did I forget to add that he had the greyest eyes? And a swooning voice too,but that's all its gonna be for me. Just examining his physical beauty.

"You know that Chinese Company we merged with last year?" He asked,rubbing his nose a little. A cute thing he does when he's annoyed.

" Yeah? The Tian Young Premises....what's wrong?" I asked.

"Well...I just received a call from Choi  Yang, that they would like to withdraw from our merge." He said bitterly.

"What?!" I but screamed. "We worked so hard to get them to merge with us. I worked so hard that time that I didn't attend Miguel's party,which made him pout for almost a week." I said quickly.

"Exactly. That isn't even the main issue." He said dryly rubbing his  neck furiously.

What is it with ' issues ' today? I don't even want to know.

"What is the issue then?" I asked.

"They found interest in another company. They are actually dumping us for another company...Can you imagine? And the worst company of all!" Calvin all but yelled as he stood up from his sit.

Why do I get a feeling that I know the company he's talking about? Oh please not that company, not that dreadful experience.

"What company?" My voice almost shook as I asked.

"What other company except that fucked up Rodriguez Enterprises" Now the answer I dreaded. Why is everything this morning connected to the bastard?

I stood up and walked to the tensed Calvin. Rodriguez Enterprise has been our company's greatest rival. The enmity between Calvin and Cade still remains mystery to me.

I touched his shoulder which made him tense a little, my touch can be fire.

"Don't get too worked up, we can find a way." I said rubbing slow circles in his arm. To calm him down.

He rubbed his face. "We are really at the end Audrey. I don't think...."

"Shhh" I cut him off." We can always find a way. Let's try to impress them again. Let's show them that we are better than the Rodriguez, of course I'll help you. Let's start over and get better presentations and reasons why they shouldn't merge with the Rodriguez. Okay?" I encouraged.

He nodded. Sighing deeply." I don't know what I'd do without you, Audrey. You're always the light to all my darkness." He said taking my hands which was on his arms in his.

" Hmmm.....I'm delighted that I'm someone's light." I teased,smiling.

" I'm serious Audrey." He said looking all serious suddenly. He pulled me closer to him,making us almost chest to chest. Almost.

"Um..." I said trying to put as much distance as I can between us.

" Can I just hug you? Its nothing skeptic or special ,just a boss to employee hug? Please?" He asked,pulling me closer to him.

Its just a hug right? An innocent hug it is.

" Okay." I murmured hesitantly. Then he pulled me to a hug. He held my waist so tight like he was scared to let go or if he let's go I'll fall. He kept his head beneath my neck and inhaled.

Oh goodness,I was just standing there like statue.

"Can you at least hug me back?" His voice tickled my skin.

Fuck me! What's this shit about?!

I put my hand on his shirt and patted his back.

Okay so what?? Are we like hours hugging now?

I tried pulling away from the now intense and hot hug. His hands were on my lower back now. It would soon go over to my butt!!

"Calvin..." I said using all my possible strength to pull out, but the hulk of a man wasn't having that.

"Let me just hold you. You smell so good,Audrey. And you have a flawless skin." He commented placing a kiss on that spot behind my ear.

" Calvin!" I grounded out.

He immediately left me,his cheeks so red that I was scared it would burst. He looked away and mumbled ' sorry '

" You can't keep saying those things to me Calvin. You're my boss." I reasoned out.

" I like you, Audrey. And you know it. You don't give me a chance to show you how much I can take care of you. You turn me down at any given opportunity. I'm I not good enough?" He asked,coming to stand in front of me.

So how did Chinese contract, getting back our merge and a hug....turn into this conversation?

"Calvin I have a kid...." I started.

" I don't fucking care Audrey. I will treat Miguel as mine. I like you,not the baggage you have with you." He reasoned, holding my arm.

Oh god!

"I'm not ready, Calvin. You're a nice guy,you can always find a better Lady, not me okay? Please let's just close this topic. Please." I said pulling his hands from my arm.

He looked away,annoyed,disappointed and hurt. "Okay....if you say so. You can leave now." He retorted not looking at me.

I just nodded and left his office.

Awkward should be the understatement of the universe.
What exactly is making me turn down his offer?
