Hello folks! Gale here, and I would like to present to you… (Drum roll please)… CHAPTER 1! I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. I am sorry that it’s so short, but I can explain. I had written two versions of this chapter and had to decide which to post. The first was a 5 page
Monster that-honestly-made me sick to read. It was that bad… So I decide to go with this, short yet decent one. With that useless piece of background, you may continue on to the story! Enjoy!
P.S. The girl at the side is Ariella. Just imagine her face a bit more narrow and her eyes a bit lighter and you got it.
Most days of the year are unremarkable. They begin and they end with no lasting memory made in between. Most days have no impact on the course of a life.

Chapter 1
I was given this journal to write about my journey through Saga, and let me get straight to the point, my life has not been what you call "normal". I have gone through 6 years of all kinds of crazy. Multiple times throughout this ordeal I have wanted to ripe my hair out, scream, or curl up in a ball and cry. Things have gotten so bad that I just wanted it all to end, and I have wanted to give up. Fortunately, it did not end, and I have not given up.
It all started when I was 12. I always thought I was a normal 12 year old. Like, a boringly normal girl. I never had anything to set me apart, other than an accident my father was in when I was really young. No special talents or skills, just some really frizzy hair. Then I was shipped off to what my mom calls 'a boarding school for special children'.
I should actually start before I even knew I was going to boarding school, the day of my 12th birthday.

I pulled my knees to my chin and rested my head on them. I was confused, lost, and most of all scared as the darkness crept closer to me. Something was out there, creeping up on me. I could hear it snarl and slam it’s heavy feet on the invisible floor.
I felt the cold emitting off the creature and the darkness. It nipped at my exposed skin and chilled my bones. The only warmth I had was the occasional breath down the back of my neck or on the tips of my toes.
I shook and shivered uncontrollably. Pure, agonizing fear paralyzed me. I wanted to look and see the creature that was circling me, but my body wouldn’t let me. I was frozen, alone in the darkness with the creature.
‘Why?’ I though as I listened to the breathing and footsteps. ‘Why do I have to face this thing alone?’ I felt tears slide down my cheeks, and I began to sob into my knees.
I blinked once, then twice, then three times. I was staring up at the dark brown beams of my ceiling, and blinked again. I smelled the musty smell of my attic room, and felt the warm Florida air from my open window. Lifting my hand but not sitting up, I touched my damp cheeks.
