Ax's PoV
It was common for the town I live in to be constantly clouded. On a very rare occasion it'd be sunny and bright - but because the town was in a deep valley it was shadowed a majority of the time.
My name is Ax Adler, double A - I know it's strange. My folks liked the sound of Ax - my father told me the name meant 'father of peace'. I live in a small town called Winter Falls, it's that small that everyone knows everyone. My folks are happy people, my dad's a bioscientist and my mum stays at home. I go to a high school called Winter Falls high - cliche I know.
I was currently stood by my locker, my black jacket clung to my physique as I sorted through my books. I tensed when I felt someone jump on my back, a pair of familiar tattooed arms tightening around my neck pulling me down slightly "Morning, A-ball!" Wriggling out of Atticus' grasp I turn to face the beaming Male, his dusty blonde hair swept back revealing his light blue eyes "And you, Atticus." I smile slightly, feeling his hand pat against my shoulder, I walk alongside him down towards the last class of the day "Are you coming to the grants party tonight? You know football members get an instant invite." He asks, humming I look down "I don't know... I might just stay at home." I mumble, Atticus immediately grabbed my shoulders and stared directly in my eyes "Dude, you said at the end of freshmen, you was going to try harder at everything. Going to the grants party is a gateway to popular-town." He says seriously, scowling I shrug his hands off of my shoulders "Dude... you sound mental. I mean I'll go with you but I'm not staying long.." I grumble, A smile spreading across his face as he wraps his arm around my shoulders and pats my chest as he walk towards class "That'll do, Pal" he chirps.
I'm not saying I hate parties, but they are just so stereotypical - and they always end up the same. Underage people get unreasonably drunk, end up doing things they regret and fights break out. However, this was the grants party, like Atticus said it's an immediate-gateway to bring popular. Edward and Michayla Grant, the golden twins of winter falls high - they are, and I kid you not, loved by everyone in the school.
Footballers get an automatic invite to their party - partially because Michayla's boyfriend is the star quarterback, Alexander Brash. He doesn't really interact with me other than when I'm on the field but that's it. I hear from a lot of people he's narcissistic and arrogant, that he likes to look down on people, like peasants. I don't really get involved with him so I steer clear.
Obviously I won't be able to avoid him tonight at the grants party but I'll try to leave the party early - if Atticus let's me that is.
Standing in front of the mirror in my en suite bathroom, I ruffle my hand through the black curls that fall over my blue eyes, faking a smile briefly before slamming my hand down on the sink as I turn to grab my phone.
Going to grab my jacket I stop in my room. I don't know what it was that came over me but I felt dizzy, almost like the room was twisting and turning like a rubix cube, shaking my head I freeze for a moment, my eyes closed gently for a brief moment before reopening again resulting in the room not spinning anymore. Grabbing my jacket now I exit my bedroom as if nothing had happened, brushing it off as a dizzy spell.
Watching Atticus pull up in his car, a custom Ford Mustang GT that he and his father built together before his dad passed away. He treasured the car like his life, says it's the only real memory he has with his dad. I hadn't noticed my own parents watching me out the window.
Atticus was clearly trying to impress some girls tonight as he wore clearly new bought clothing and wore an expensive cologne. I could practically smell the anticipation and anxiety radiating off of him. Clearing my throat I look to him "You expecting to get lucky tonight?" I joke, watching him laugh he nods "Dude... we're teenagers. I don't wanna be known as the guy who was a virgin till he was eighteen." He retaliates almost as if he's in court "I was joking, bro... calm down, you look like your about to blow a fuse" I tease, a long held breath escaping his lungs as he pulls up to the grants mansion of a house.
There was drunk teens already stumbling everywhere, underage students pulling each other into any dark corner they can find, groping and kissing as if it was the end of the world.
The smell of lust in the air was so thick i could practically get a nosebleed from it. Atticus was beaming at the amount of people and immediately jumped out of the car, grabbed his varsity jacket and threw it on "This is the dream." He whispers before walking towards the front door, looking around I give him thumbs up as he disappears into a crowd of people.
Migrating into the garden where a majority of people are, dancing and drinking, grinding upon each other like sex-crazed monsters. I had a big plastic red cup filled with a random alcohol some amateur 'bartender' served up to me. Clearly I wasn't going to drink it, I just wanted to blend in til it was polite enough for me to leave.
However as I began devising a plan to convince Atticus that I needed to be home, like some family emergency or something, a small black haired girl came into view. She stood with the grants, who were also stood with the popular group of the football team - so I couldn't really go over there cause that meant Alexander Brash was there and... well I don't really want to interact with him unless it's absolutely necessary.
I was just about to leave to find Atticus when Edward spotted me and ran over with Michayla and the new girl, Alex looking at me briefly before nodding and turning back to his friends "Axel! This is Artemis Bentley, she's new to our school!" Edward introduces, smiling slightly I tuck my hands into my varsity jacket pockets "Artemis, this is Axel Adler, he's the right-end on the football team." Edward continues, staring into the girl, known as Artemis', emerald green eyes I squint slightly "Nice to.. meet you." She says slowly, nodding awkwardly I look to Atticus who's making out with a random girl over by the pool "and you..." I mumble.
Going to excuse myself from the grants and the new... strange girl, I stop just before I speak, my head spinning again as I lean forward "Axel?" Michayla asks, holding my head with my right hand I squeeze my eyes shut "How much did you drink, ax?" Edward asks, shaking my head I clench my jaw "I didn't." I retaliate sternly, unaware Atticus staring up until he runs over and grabs my shoulder "Grant twins! And new girl, thank you for your amazing party and hospitality, it seems Axel is a bit overwhelmed by all the people and music and drinking." He says with a cheerful manor before hauling me out of the house.
Feeling 'Artemis' gaze on my back as Atticus drags me out of the mansion, I look under my arm as she reluctantly turns her attention to the grant twins.
