It was a small kiss. But Kevin couldn't leave it at that. He found himself gripping Edd's shoulders and kissing him a bit too desperately.
Edd's eyebrows frown as he tries to break free."Kevin, it hurts." He says turning his face away but unable to shake off the fingers gripping his shoulders.
"The city's another 30 minutes from here."
Edd looks up at Kevin, attempting to find something in his frantic eyes."Let's go. I know a hotel. We should... forget about everything tonight." His lips move but his voice is so quiet Edd can barely hear him over the sea and wind. He continues, "I really don't wanna go back, Edd."
Edd squints, his heart gripping as tight as the hands still on his shoulders.
"Is that what you want? A distraction, Kevin?"Kevin's fingers twitch. "Not, not like that I'm sorry. It's just..!" His frustration surfaces and he digs his fingers into Edd's shoulders one last time then finally lets go.
"I just- I tried so fucking hard and we still lost. Our homecoming game. I suck. And Nazz is mad at me and even Jay is treating me like I'm an asshole. Maybe he's right, I mean I can't even treat you right." He stops there but Edd feels that he could have gone on for another hour.
"I..." Edd takes a deep breath.
I want to hide your pain deep within myself. I'm know I'm foolish for thinking this is how the best love stories begin but I'm going to try anyway.
He continues with eyes shut, "I'll do what you want, Kevin."
