"I don't know about a party, Ney." I sigh for the second time, rubbing my forehead. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be pushy." I shrug, taking a deep breath, "It's okay." He comes over to the couch, and sits down next to me, pulling me into his side.
"What's wrong, babe?" He asks quietly. I look up at him, eyebrows raised. "I know, I know, you told me to stop calling you that. But I can't say that I'm sorry." With a sigh, I close my eyes. "It's just.. now that you're here again, I don't know how I would cope with saying bye." He says quietly. I look up at him, and he leans his forehead against mine.
"I don't know how I would either." I finally respond, looking down. "Don't go." He whispers. He tilts my head up, and kisses my cheek before drawing me closer.
My heart beats fast as I pull away. He looks confused as I caress his cheek. "San-" I cut him off, pressing my lips to his.
"Shit!"
We break apart immediately, a surprised Rafaella standing in the doorway. I look at my lap, a blush on my cheeks. Neymar's jaw clenches, as he drills his sister with an angry glare.
"I'm really sorry, I just.. um I just..." She trails off, and I can tell she's genuinely sorry, but Neymar isn't showing any signs of responding. "It's okay." I say quietly, with a small smile, "I'll, um, go upstairs and you guys can talk." I stand, and Neymar slowly lets go of my hand.
When I get in my room, I close the door behind me, a shaky breath escaping my lips.
What's wrong with me? I know I can't stay; why am I attaching myself again? I pace my bedroom floor, arms wrapped around my waist. What now? What will we do? How can we maintain this relationship?
The door opens, and Neymar walks in, a serious expression on his face. He looks up at me, and my eyebrows pull together with concern. "What?" he walks over to me, pulling me against him, "This isn't smart." He finally admits against my lips. "I know."
But we kiss anyway, slowly and tenderly, his arms wrapping around my waist.
*•*•*
"So I'll see you soon?" He whispers, grip tightening. "You know you will." I say quietly for the thousandth time. He pulls back from out embrace, and sighs, eyebrows pulling together, "I don't know what we're going to do-" "We'll talk about it later, Ney, just go have fun okay?" I interrupt with a smile. He looks around at all of the people surrounding us and sighs, "Why can't they just leave us alone?" He whispers. "Because you invited them. Now go." He sighs, and leans down for a kiss. My hand caresses his cheek, and his arms pull me closer. When we pull away, we just look into each other's eyes with slight smiles. Of course, there's something missing; a key phrase. But, it'll be missing until we have the courage to say it again--and only God knows when that is. Let's just hope that we get that far.
