It took a few blinks for his vision to clear up.
One second he and his friends were staring down an angry Nargacuga, then a flash of light blinded him, and he found himself laying here.
Where was here?
Ryan opened one eye, confirming he was in fact still alive.
With that question answered, he opened both eyes and slowly sat up, straightening his dark charcoal blue jacket.
The room he found himself in looked like some kind of storage room, with countless stacks of large wooden crates and old cardboard boxes taking up most of the free space.
One stack had been knocked over, TJ laying face down and half buried in boxes. Ryan got up and made his way over, glancing around at his new surroundings.
"T! T, get up!" he mumbled, tapping the back of his friend's head.
TJ flailed back to life, sending any surviving boxes near him toppling over.
"What happened?" he questioned, once the initial panic wore off.
"Still working on that myself." Ryan answered, "Do you see Sean anywhere?"
"Not seeing much of anything right now..." TJ admitted, holding his head, "Room is still spinning."
Hearing movement, Ryan took a few steps to his right, peering around the stacks of boxes.
Someone was coming their way, and it didn't look like Sean.
This person had their face hidden by a combination of a dark hood and the dim light.
Unfamiliar person in an unfamiliar location?
Better safe then sorry.
Waiting until they were close enough, Ryan shoved a stack of heavier looking boxes over at the stranger.
They reacted quickly, jumping to the side and swinging at Ryan with a steel baseball bat.
Ryan ducked backward, barely avoiding the swing and rolling to the left to dodge a second.
He kicked at their knees, stumbling them a bit and giving him time to get to his feet.
The stranger wasted no time swinging at him again, Ryan dodging and quickly taking hold of the bat to prevent a follow up.
With unbelievable speed and agility, the stranger used Ryan's grip as leverage to jump up and scissor kick him backwards before making a downward swing.
Ryan rolled to avoid the impact and scrambled backwards in an attempt to get up, having to jump to the side to avoid another swing.
He found himself against a wall, ready for another attack.
At that moment Sean suddenly blindsided the stranger with a forceful shoulder rush that left both of them sprawling to the floor.
Ryan quickly snatched the bat as it was dropped, he and TJ reclaiming his discarded hat and facing this mysterious attacker, who's hood had fallen down as they were knocked to the ground.
Both Ryan and TJ paused, recognizing the stranger in an unusual way.
"...Mae...??" Ryan murmured in shock.
The midnight blue feline herself, Mae Borowski, sat before them, rubbing her shoulder as she slowly stood up.
"...you know me...?" she questioned cautiously.
"Yeah. Well, n-no. Kind of. yes?" Ryan stammered.
"We know of you." TJ cut in.
"How's that?" Mae questioned.
