"Sun, darling, can you go hunting for me?" Goldenqueen asked, laying in her tree hollow. Sun stretched out in the daylight before heading into the forest. Sun knew that her mother enjoyed mice the most out of all of the creatures in the trees.
"I'll go visit the old twoleg place, it's not far..." Sun said to herself, and started running on the grassy ground which soon disappeared. Sun found herself looking at the old Twolegplace road. She then ran straight into the old shaky house.
"Squeak!" Sun pounced on a mouse, tearing its skin with her teeth. The mouse made one last twitching move before dying. Sun looked at the mouse, impressed by its size. Sun picked up the mouse with her teeth.
"This one is good enough for today!" Sun exclaimed, and bounced all the way back to the tree hollow where Goldenqueen was laying in the sun's rays.
"Thanks daughter..." Goldenqueen meowed as she spilt the mouse in half and started eating her piece. Sun sat down and licked her paws.
"Hey... mom... is there any other cats in the woods?" Sun asked nervously as Goldenqueen put down her mouse and looked at Sun.
"Oh yes.. but they're dangerous.. matter of fact, they... let your siblings die," Goldenqueen snapped as Sun looked in horror at her. Goldenqueen motioned for her to sit down. "It's okay.. just sit down and relax.." she meowed softly.
"How can I relax when you've told me this?! I can't believe you'd let your kits be murdered!" Sun yelled at Goldenqueen with tears in her eyes, "I wish I didn't have you for a mother!" Sun ran into the woods, away from Goldenqueen and into the forest, where she would be able to think about what her mother had said. Suddenly, Sun was overwhelmed by a strong scent.
"Aahrg!" Sun yelled in surprise as a cat about the same size as her jumped with her claws out. Instinctively, Sun thrashed out with her back paws, pushing the orange cat onto the forest floor. The orange cat hissed and went at Sun again, making Sun roll to the side to avoid her.
"Foxpaw?! Where are you?" a voice yelled through the bracket, stopping both Foxpaw and Sun from fighting.
"I'm over here!" Foxpaw yelled back, and then a muscular gray tom came through the bushes. Sun looked up at the gray tom, who looked back at her with an surprised expression, like a mouse just had jumped in his paws.
"And who may you be?" the tom asked, staring at Sun's golden pelt. Sun flinched as Foxpaw hissed.
"My name is Sun, and I'm wondering who you are," Sun rebuked, looking at the giant gray tom and his violent orange daughter? Trainee?
"I'm Smokewhisker... you're a little too young just to be living by yourself... you need to explain to our leader why you're here anyways." Smokewhisker stated, and took Sun by the shoulder. Sun looked longingly back at the forest before coming with Smokewhisker.
