This is the product of one of my many ridiculously strange dreams :) Its sort of a half developed idea but I thought I might as well write while its floating around in my head and see how it pans out! This is just to sort of set the scene. Oh and the title might change, not really sure on what to call it yet but that has been stuck in my mind for a while so it might well stay.

Feel free to tell me what you think :)

"Good morning!" Bonnie addressed her best friend with her usual cheer.

"Ugh.. Its 8 in the morning, Bonnie. How can you be so happy!?" Lyra was not a morning person and would never understand why Bonnie liked it so much.

"Just look around, its cool and fresh! The sun is out! What more do you want?" Bonnie smiled as she threw her arms out taking in the day. She was an optimist whereas Lyra liked to think of herself as more of a realist. Bonnie was a tall slim girl with blonde curly hair that fell way past her shoulders. She was a very quiet girl and didn't much like drawing attention to herself. Her demeanour was timid but kind and her smile was contagious.

"A lie in" Lyra laughed. She was not quite as tall as Bonnie but what she lacked in height she more than made up for in personality. Her wit was the sharpest Bonnie had known and no one could ever get the last word with Lyra. They may have been somewhat opposite in character but they got on famously. Lyra encouraged Bonnie out of her shell and equally Bonnie helped Lyra to bite her tongue in bad situations. Neither of them could live without the other.

"I am so glad it's the weekend!" Lyra told Bonnie, "So, who's house?" It had been tradition for as long as the two could remember that nearly every weekend they would have a sleep over. "I think it's your turn this time Lyra"

"Great" She smiled, the bus began to slow down and the air brakes hissed, "Oh shall we get off here?" The pair headed to the front of the bus and smiled at the driver. They hopped off a few stops early so they could wander back through the park. They had both been so engrossed in what they were going to do over the weekend that they did not notice that the park was in fact empty. Bonnie wandered off the path to the right and hopped onto a swing. She looked around the park curiously, realizing how dead the place was. "Lyra?"

"Yeah?" she headed over to the swings, perched on the one next to Bonnie and pushed herself to and fro gently with her feet. Bonnie was staring off into the distance, there was quite and impressive view, apart from the industrialized area just below the park – which was situated on top of a hill – you could see for miles off into the distance great hills and many little towns and villages beneath them under the thick grey sky. "It's awfly quiet isnt it?" Lyra observed

"More than that, its weird.." Bonnie trailed off, "It's like the atmoshphere its sort of.. Flat"

"Flat!?" Lyra burt into laugher, "Dont go all spooky on me"

"Oh, shusht! Seriously!" Bonnie gave Lyra a playful shove with just enough force to unbalance her and send her flailing backwards on the swing. "Rude!" Lyra retorted with a laugh, "C'mon lets get moving. Don't want the ghosts to come!" Bonnie shook her head but kept her eyes on the hills in the distance. Something just didn't quite feel right, Bonnie couldn't quite understand herself but she knew something was going to happen.

"Ice cream?" Lyra tipped the tub towards Bonnie with a spoon stuck in it. "Of course" Bonnie reached for the spoon and they both tore into the cool desert. "Should we not save some for the movie?" Bonnie asked, still not stopping eating. "Probably" Lyra took another mouthful, picked up the tub and headed out of the kitchen. The girls were both staying at Lyra's house, not that it mattered so much because the houses were pretty much the same layout, kitchen looking out at a similar view to that of the park only half a mile to the right. A nice tidy living room to the front of the house and two bedrooms up the stairs. Lyra's room was always much nicer l,ooking than Bonnies, she was much better at co ordination and knew what was fashionable. Her doulbe bed stuck out from the window underneath a royal blue curtain, her walls were white and had a couple of floral canvasses hanging, she had a wonderful big mirror hung to the right of her bed that took up a great deal of the wall, "It makes the room appear more spacious" Lyra would say, however true that was, really Bonnie knew she just liked to have a good view of herself, heads would roll if Lyra left the house with a hair out of place. Bonnie ran past Lyra on the stairs, into her room and leapt onto the bed. She knew fine and well Lyra hated when Bonnie creased the bed throws and upset the neat arrangement of decorative pillows she had so carefully laid out each morning. "Bonnie, I swear if you have jumped on my bed.." Lyra called as she quickened her pace to try and catch up. She burst through the doorway to find Bonnie smirking sprawled out, throws hanging off and pillows on the floor. "Im sorry, did you say something?" Bonnie asked innocently before bursting out laughing at Lyra stood in the doorway fuming, "Honestly Lyra there's smoke coming out of your ears!"

"Thats it! No ice cream for you!" Lyra began shovelling it in her mouth

"You waste far too much time doing pointless things like arranging pillows! What's the point when you are just going to have to move them all to get back into bed to sleep at night?"

"It looks much nicer!" Lyra said through a mouthful of ice cream, Bonnie tried to get her spoon in the tub but Lyra would move it away each time she came close. "Oh come o-" The window next to Bonnie lit up with a blue haze, both girls stopped immediately. "What in hell was that!?" Lyra went to peer through the curtains, "Be careful Lyra!"

"Oh my God!"

"What? What is it? You know I don't do thunder and lightening" Bonnie sat up and hugged her knees to her chest.

"I don't think it was" Lyra said withdrawing from the window.

"How?"

"Well, there's no clouds" Bonnie's eyes narrowed at Lya in confusion. She gestured for Bonnie to have a look for herself. Anxiously she peered through the curtains, "How strange!" It wasn't even dark yet but the girls had drawn their curtains so they could see the film better, "Lets just watch this film shall we" Bonnie said nervously. However as the girls turned round they came to realize all the power had went off. "Ughh... Briliant!" Lyra sighed "Probably that stupid lightening thing" she marched downstairs to check the electric meter leaving an opening for Bonnie to dig in to the quickly melting ice cream.

"What is wrong today!?" Lyra banged the meter, it was working perfectly fine but none of the sockets or appliances were, "DAAAD" she shouted

"I know! I'm on it!" came his reply from the living room. Lyra smiled and trotted back up the stairs

"Right! Movie ti—" her jaw dropped at Bonnie cosy under her covers cradling the tub of ice cream, "Make yourself at home, please" she said sarcastically while gesturing at her bed. "Don't mind me I'll just perch on the end" Lyra put a film in the dvd player before leaping onto the bed deliberately landing on Bonnie, "Lyra the ice cream!" The two girls laughed at themselves before huddling up to watch their movie.

Meanwhile the TARDIS was in earth's orbit, Amy was sat on one of the chairs bored out of her wits while the Doctor danced excitedly round the console, "Oh look at those readings!"

"I have, four times!" Amy placed her head in her hands. The doctor had noticed that the Earth's atmosphere was a little off, nothing noticeable to its inhabitants though. Still being the Doctor he had to make sure it was a benign disturbance. Apparently 'something' had breeched the surface a few hours ago, what it actually was however, the Doctor did not know. He grabbed hold of the monitor and swung it round to Amy, she looked up lazily, then her head tilted as she realized what she was looking at, "Is that lightening?"

"Not exactly.." The Doctor smiled, "Fancy a look?" However he already knew the answer so he ran round the console preparing the TARDIS to land.

In the woods not far from where Bonnie and Lyra lived the lightening hit the ground with a sharp crack, leaves and spines flew up in the air where the force had struck like a tsunami and settled gently back on the ground around a strange spherical mass that appeared to be made out of a similar substance to that of a placenta. Just as soon as the debris settled, a talon tore violently through and whatever was inside made its way out.

In Lyra's room the two girls had dozed off, blissfully unaware of what was unfolding around them.
