In The Process

Whatever.

     "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING ACE!?  You could've killed the boy" I hear the principle screaming "that's the thing. I wasnt. Plus that "boy" deserved it" I tell her nonchalantly "OF COURSE YOU WERENT!!! nobody deserves death Ace!!!"

     The principle continues on her little rant on how I'm a delinquent and I could've killed him, me just giving witty remarks. She turned to Cole and said he could stay at school and that I was getting a suspension for 2 days. Which is fair enough... even though Cole didnt get anything even though he was abusing her.

     They tried to call my parents... but they couldn't get ahold of them...they were out of town for 2 years. So they just had me walk home.

TIME SKIP [AFTER SCHOOL]

     When school ends Kate comes to my house crying. "ACE!!! LET ME STAY HERE PLEASE!" She cries to me. "What's going on" I say as she jumps into my arms, hiding her face in the crook of my neck. "Hes after me!!!" She cries. "Cole?" She replies yes with a mumble into my shoulder "why would he be after you?" I question.  "BECAUSE!!! YOU FOUND OUT ABOUT HIM!!! HELP ME!" she cries. I pull her into a hug and say "your ok, I'll protect you until I die" next thing I know, theres a knock at the door, I tell Kate to go hide and I'll look out the window.

      As I look out the window who do I see? Cole. I open the door. "Yes?" I ask. "Let me see Kate" he replies. "No. Shes not even here." I say sternly. "Yes she is, I saw her enter" he pleads. "Look, if you dont leave my property, cops will be called for trespassing, understood?" "whatever" cole leaves my yard and I quickly go to Kate to calm her down, I find her in my closet crying so I go behing her and hug her "your ok he cant get you" she turned around and hugged me so tight  almost lost blood circulation.

     She continues to cry into my shoulder, until she falls alseep. I bring her to my bed and lay her down with some lavendar in a humidifier to keep her calm for when she wakes up.

     I go to the kitchen and start making dinner, I make katsudon, its a Japanese dish that consists of a bowl of rice with fried chicken breast that's often topped with certain herbs and sauces, as I finish she wakes up ans goes face first into the couch, "Kate? want dinner? its katsudon." I question. "uhm... sure..." I serve me and do the same brining one to her, I put on some anime as I sit next to her. "Kate? why did you start dating Cole? he was nothing but trouble... he only hurt you..." I inquired "well... before all of this he was sweet... and we had been childhood friends, when he lost his mother he needed somebody to be there for him... when I was the only one who took him in we both got feelings and started dating... then things went downhill, he started hurting me, but I couldn't leave, if I left he said he would hurt himslef...  so I sustained his abuse..." Kate explained. 

     I looked at Kate scarcely, "Kate... that's as toxic as a relationship can be... you are not getting back with him ok?" she looked back at me shocked. "but... he needs me..." she replied, "no he doesn't, the only reason he wants you is to say he has a girlfriend" "but..." she quietly cries "no buts, im not just going to stand around and watch my friend get hurt, I've stood with it for six months and im not standing for it any longer. " I say sternly. "Ace... you don't have to do that..."  she exclaims. "whatever... im gonna go take a shower." I say as I start walking away. "Ace..." kate calls after me. 

     I walk into the bathroom and strip to my bare body, I hop in the shower and turn the water to the hottest I can get it without it burning me. I  feel the hot water flow down my back. I just tense up, am I mad? sad...? I don't know maybe stressed. "wait? how did I get into the shower!? and why is it so hot!? I turn the water to a colder temperature. "why did it turn so cold? oh..." I turn it back to the warm temperature feeling it go down my back again. I wash my hair and step out, I change into some grey sweatpants and  black sports bra.

      I walk out of the bathroom and glance at Kate, quickly glance away and go to my room, going face first into my  bed, I hear footsteps behind me, knowing its Kate I keep my head down. "Ace... I'm sorry" no reply, I feel the bed slightly go down as she sits next to me, she puts my hands on my warm back and her hands are cold, I slightly flinch and then relax a little bit. "Ace... your really tense" I groan into the pillow pretty much saying "I know, I'm just stressed" she seems to know what this means and starts massaging my shoulders and back. "is that better?" she asks "mmhm go a tad lower please." she does as I asks and I start to really relax. "thank you Kate" I say into the pillow "of course" she says lightly. I turn around and just hug her smiling, I was finally happy for once in a long time. "you should go get a shower, gym was brutal today, go ahead and get anything from my closet. I don't really care." I tell her "okay' Kate says as she leaves to my closet grabbing some sweatshorts and a crop top, she leaves into the bathroom"

TIME SKIP [AFTER KATES SHOWER]

Kate walks into my room with wet hair and passes out on my bed. I wait and until I know she's asleep and I pass out alongside her.
