It's been a year since I've completed this book and to show my appreciation to all my readers I decided to post a final chapter. Also thank you to all those who actually sent me a message saying that I can't end the book just like that.
Narrator's POV
„Mommy. There's this one kid in class who called me stupid girl", the six year old brunette exclaims when she sees her mom in the kitchen.
"That's not nice. Why would he say that?" Amaya asks cleaning her hands with the apron around her body.
"I dropped my pencil case in Maths and he called me a stupid girl" Yves explains precisely. She knows that she isn't the smartest in school but pointing it out made her feel bad.
"You do know you're not stupid right. I've never met a smart girl like you in my entire life. Also mommy and daddy are smart so you can't be stupid", he mom pinches her cheeks smiling down at the beautiful girl.
"So what should I do when I see him tomorrow?"
Yves is sure her mom gives the best advice since she always listens attentively. Her mom's advice always helped her when she needed it. From standing up for the girl, who was bullied by some mean guys to showing her teacher that she's capable of becoming class president.
"Who are you guys talking about?", asks Amaya's husband before going in for a hug. (Keeping it PG gotta save the child's sight) He places a kiss on Yves forehead and takes a seat right next to her.
"Someone called our daughter stupid. Would you like to give her some advice?"
"Kick his balls. You know guys are sensitive in area", her dad advices.
"Darling you can't say things like that", she warns strictly. As a mother she doesn't want her daughter to memorize the stupid things she hears from her dad.
"You told me to give her advice"
"Don't listen to your dad. How about you go to school tomorrow and show him how smart you are by raising your hand as much as possible in class?"
"I hope it works. I was really sad when he said that", Yves tells her parents while dropping her head on the table.
Her parents exchange looks sympathetically.
"Let's get ice cream and go for a walk."Amaya suggests putting her apron aside and switching off the stove. Yves runs down the hall grabbing her jacket and her parents' coats. In a hurry she drags her parents out of the house.
"Can I get an ice cream with four scoops?", Yves asks linking her hands with her mom on the right side and her dad on the left sind.
"As many as you can eat", her dad replies. Lies Amaya won't allow her to eat more than two scoops of ice cream. They eventually reach the ice cream truck and Yves orders some ice cream with her dad while Amaya gets some water at the local store.
"Amaya?", a voice calls from behind her. The voice sounds way too familiar to the girl. Never in her life could she forget all the times they spent talking to each other before the "cheating misunderstanding". Someone she loved with all her heart but betrayed her.
The owner of the voice walks over to Amaya and engulfs her in a hug. No difference the healthy brown hair and the skinny body. Esmeralda never changed.
"It's nice to see you. It's been a while", Amaya smiles looking at her old best friend. Second lie of the day she wasn't happy to see her. She almost destroyed her and Daniel's relationship.
"Same here. How's Manuel doing?"
"He moved to Spain after marrying his wife. We still keep in touch though. I'm planning on visiting him and his family in July with my husband and kid"
"Wow. Congratulations. I'm so happy you found someone at last. Someone who knows how to treat a girl well"
"Actually. Daniel is my husband. After the misunderstanding Aspen kind of helped us build our relationship from the start"
Obviously Esmeralda was surprised that her friend really is married to Daniel Seavey.
"Oh that's even better. Good for you. I'm guessing that's your daughter?", she asks facing a little girl holding Daniel's hand across the road.
"Yes. Her name is Yves and she's six years old"
"Mommy. Daddy got me chocolate and lemon for you. Ohh who is this?"
Esmeralda crouches down to her height and hugs Yves. The confused girl looks up at her mom for help. Whereas her mom just shrugs Daniel separates his daughter from a person he despises.
"I'm Auntie Esmeralda. You're really beautiful and look just like your mommy"
"I guess beauty runs in our vain. Now if you'd excuse us we have to go", exclaims Daniel without taking a look at the woman in front of him and his family. He grabs Yves hand and places an ice cream cone in Amaya's hand.
"It was really nice to see you again Esmeralda. Maybe we could get some coffee next time smiling at the stupid things we did as a trio. You Manuel and I"
"I'd love that. I hope you forgive me for what I've done"
"It's all in the past", Amaya replies catching up with Daniel. She knew how mich he hated her especially because of her great way of manipulating people to do the things she wants them to.
When finally meeting Daniel and Yves sit on a bench she notices the annoyed facial expression.
"You shouldn't have talked to her", he tells her.
Smiling she intertwines his hands with her own. Leaning her head on his shoulder afterwards."Who cares. At the end of the day we're happily married and have a cute daughter. No one can take that away from us. PERIOD"
