"What have you done this time?" His mother, let us call her Airi Oma, asked her 14 year old son, Kokichi.
"I was out with friends! To the club! Are you proud of me?" Kokichi replied with a beaming smile.
"No! Clubs are for people who do not care about their education! You are already a disgrace to this family as it is!" She slapped him across the face. "Knock it off!"
This is my life. I suffer. Day to night. This is my life, the club was an escape for me. Maybe... I need to change. Not for the better. Maybe... I should start to be dishonest?"No tea for you tonight!" Hideki Oma, Kokichi's father yelled.
Kokichi trudged up to his room. Life sucks. They don't care about me. What I need is someone going through the same. Someone to understand, to teach me to tolerate or be so bad that they might give me away. At least then I might be happier, wherever I'm sent.Kokichi glanced out of his window. The city of Tokyo glittered in the moonlight. Where he grew up was a great place. So many understanding people. People who care. People who preserve the law.
It was now 1:00 am. Since it was Saturday, Kokichi liked to sneak out and wander the city, checking out the parks and seeing if there was in fact someone similar to him in a way.
After waiting around an hour, his parents finally left for their full day jobs. Kokichi took full advantage of that, grabbed money, a coat and left the house, trudging along the road. He sat down in the park. What he didn't notice was that there was a girl walking around, looking like she had also been abused, due to the scars on her face.
"Hey... do you mind if I sit here?" She asked.
"You can sit here. I'm just feeling a little lonely. I could use some company." Kokichi patted the bench.
"Thanks. I'm Melody by the way, Melody Shimmer." She smiled.
"I'm Kokichi Oma." Kokichi looked into the air. "I'm always out this early on a Saturday. It's a habit of mine really." He sighed.
"Me too, since I have such a hard life at home, coming out here is a blessing. It's a moment that very rarely comes across."
"Same here. My parents think I'm a mistake and shame me... ridicule and abuse me as much as they can." Kokichi felt a tear coming down his cheek.
"Do you have a phone?" Melody asked. "We could keep in touch... let each other know how well life is..."
"I do... but my parents gave me a really old and tattered one... I guess I could try and get another."
"I have an old phone. I'm sure if I gave you it you would like it."Kokichi smiled weakly. "Thanks, nobody had really cared about me before."
