After I dropped Rosaline off at school and headed to South Cavern High I couldn't help but to feel grateful that my parents were still asleep when we left so that Rosaline's day wouldn't be influenced with negativity. I have a feeling today will be a pretty good day.

When I get to school the first bell has already rung and I realize that I am late for class, again. Thankfully the office lady knows my issues with taking my sister to school on my bicycle and she is leniant with time, however, I still have to check up with her when I am late. She doesn't know my homelife. She just thinks that my parents work super early and I am just a responsible sister. She isnt wrong about the responsoble part though.

I lock my bike on the bike rack and head into the office to talk to Mrs. Greens. When I get in there she is talking to someone already and I realize I have never seen him before. When I walked in I noticed his posture change and he suddenly seemed a lot taller. He must be nervous, I guess.

They talked for another ten minutes before he turned around and walked out the door without even giving a second glance and down the hallway his silhouette faded slowly.

"Earth to miss Carter!"

I snapped my head around and blushed as I walked to Mrs. Greens desk. "I'm sorry" I said softly, "who is that?"

"He is a new student here."

"Oh, but we are almost half way through the first semester."

"It isn't uncommon for students to tranfer schools dear"

"You're right. Anyways, here is my schedule. I should be in Mr. Peter's english class right now."

"Alright dear, how is your sister?"

"She is doing well. She has been making really good grades in school."

"That is amazing. You are a very good big sister."

"Thank you."

"Alright, here is your note. Have a good day miss Carter."

"You too" and with that I left the office for class. My teachers were used to tardiness to class. In fact, they would just fill out my notes up to twenty minutes into their lectures when it wasn't a work on homework day. My grades are good in school and my GPA is good enough for me. No, I'm not in honors but my GPA is a 3.7 and my teachers work with me since I care for my sister.

I walk into class and my teacher hands me a copy of the notes after taking my slip and I sit in my seat grabbing my pencil out of my bag and set it down. Thats when I notice someone stiffen when I sit down. I glance sideways and realize its that guy from before. What is his problem? It seems like he doesn't like me that much. I don't care though, I am not popular here anyways.

The teacher talks for the rest of class and I get about half way done with my homework in the process when the bell rings and that guy runs out the door. Okay? I think I will just ignore him then. He obviously has issues. Getting out of my chair I put my homework, notes, and my pencil up in my bag and head to my lockers where I see my best friend Alexandria.

She has a gorgeous natural tan and sparkling green eyes. She is honestly beautiful. She is the only person besides Rosaline who knows my struggles and she knows my reasons for keeping it quiet. I could never risk losing Rosaline in the foster care. Although I wouldn't mind never seeing my parents again.

"Hi miss Rae!" She screams getting my attention as well as those in the hallway.

"Do you have to shout?" I tease laughing while she realises that everyone is looking at her funny.

"Sorry. I missed you these last three days" she pouts at me. It is so funny. Sometimes she reminds me of a puppy dog. She had family business to attend to so she missed the first three days this week.

"I know. School has been miserable without you."

"You poor thing" she jokes squeezing my checks.

"Hey do you know the new guy?" I question looking at her sideways.

She blushes already knowing who im talking about. "Yes. I do."

"What?" I raise my eyebrow at her

"I met him at my family event and he is the son of my parents friends, the Mayfires. His name is Damon."

"Okayyy. I have no idea who they are, but he seems like he is unhappy to be here."

"Really? He was excited to move here."

RIIIIINNNNNNGGGGGGGG

"Well second hour comes a calling" I joke as she locks arms with mine and we begin walking to Algebra two.

The teacher looked annoyed at us as we walked in after roll call and sat at our desks in the back. Alex took notes while I pulled out my english to finish my homework. Alex has gotten used to how I do my work because she knows my schedule is really busy after school. I'll get notes from her at lunch.

When I finish my English homework, there is still five minutes left in class and begin writing a list of groceries I need to get after school since I have the day off from work today. Milk, bread, eggs, etcetera.

Alex hands me her math journal when the bell rings and I put it in my bag along with my english and grocery list.

"Are you busy after school?"

"I have to pick up Rosaline and go grocery shopping, but other than that no."

"Want some help?"

"That would be great! My parents should be out of town until Sunday. Dad has a business meeting and mom of course always follows. Is it terrible that I don't even know where he works?"

"Considering you don't talk to them. No. Oh and I can stay over if you want."

"I would love that. We can just take the tires off my bike and put them in your trunk."

"Okay. Shall we head to gym class?"

"Heck yeah. I have some steam to get off my shoulders."

"Same here."

Gym class is my time of freedom to allow my negativity to flow away and I cam breathe a little. Life is too depressing when everything is being held in. Alex and I get excited when we hear that we will be doing laps around the stadium. We love to run. Sometimes we will go jogging together when I can get away from my parents.

Our gym clothes consist of gym shorts and a t-shirt. I however, have a pair of grey leggings that I wear underneath my shorts and a thin hoodie I wear over my shirt to cover my bruises. Alex is the only person who has seen the extent of my arms and legs.

I braid my hair back when we chamge into gym clothes and grab my headphones from my lockeramd head out to the field woth Alex. We noticed that the guys were out and I couldn't help but to notice that guy was in gym class and he was staring right at me. What is his problem? All of a sudden I saw his eyes flick toward Alex and they both seemed really focused. It got to the point that alex seemed zoned out because when I waved my hamd in front of her face she did not even flinch.

After about five minutes she came back to reality and looked at me with a saddened expression and I was so confused. I gave her a sideways look and she seemed to snap out of a trance and put a smile on her face.

"Lets run." Was all she said as she darted off down the track.

"There she goes again" I laughed. What a show off haha. I began jogging after I put on some good music. And just like that gym class went by pretty good except from the occasional glanes I would catch from Damon.
