CHAPTER I: THE MYSTERIOUS VISITOR
THE WORLD SEEMED TO CRUMBLE AROUND HER FEET AS SOON
AS SHE REACHED THE TOP OF
THE OAK TREE.It was the same dizzying feeling she got every time she climbed to the top of that very same tree, as sweet smells invaded her sinuses and greeted her pleasantly. The top of that oak tree always seemed to satisfy the feeling of freedom she always craved; the wind blowing the blonde wisps of hair that had fallen out of her ponytail washed a feeling of calmness upon her.
Anna O'Hara had a large reputation of being reckless and impulsive, which wasn't wrong in the slightest, but every time she climbed that oak tree she felt the most peaceful she could ever feel between the chaos of her life. Even if it was just for a few moments, every little thing was wiped from her mind: from her parent's banter that was now becoming constant, her sister's annoyance, the dread of school—
Then, as quickly as it had come, it always ended.
"Anna!" Yelped a voice from below. She recognized the voice all too well, and she sighed. Liam O'Hara peered up through the grove of trees, eyes widening in horror as he spotted his twin sister sitting on a branch so high. From beside him, Connor O'Hara rolled his eyes. It was his responsibility as the older brother to keep a calm demeanor in front of his younger siblings, but Anna saw the slight panic in his eyes that spoke more than his smooth voice. "You get down here this instant, Anna."
She rolled her eyes but obliged— not because she took orders from anyone, but because her small moment of bliss was already rudely interrupted.
"I don't see a problem in me coming out here, despite what Mum and Dad said. I do this every day." She retorted, annoyance laced in her tone.
"Well, you don't have a broken arm every day," Connor replied, eyeing the way his sister climbed down with one hand. Despite her injury, she still moved as fast as she would with two hands. His eyes narrowed. "Go help her get down," He murmured to Liam.
Liam didn't skip a beat before going over to Anna, as if it was his intention since before Connor asked him to. The two twins were vastly different from each other; Liam was praised for his intelligence and logic whilst Anna was always the rebel, priding herself in her authenticity and fearlessness. Despite their contrasting personalities, the twins were quite close. Both shared a mutual dislike for school. In fact, they usually only stuck with each other, not making many friends. Of course there was the physical similarities: they shared the same pale complexion and honey hued hair. Freckles dusted over both of their cheeks and their noses(which were the same as well). Liam had a rounder face and fuller lips, whilst Anna had a thinner face and lips. Compared to the rest of the family, Anna looks like Connor and her mother, and Liam resembled their oldest sibling, Keira, and their father.
