Here comes summer, here comes the sun, and here comes the beach. Yeah, that's how it is for other people this summer but our family somehow has money surpassing the level of "enough" yet sand and sun is nothing but a dream.
Tomorrow we're going to this town called Dewport, it's where our nana lives. My brother and I have never been there but they say it's a lovely town with a port and they say the sun rarely pops up but there are forests and mountains. I do hope this lives up to whatever nice things I am told about this town that prevented the plans for the beach but it is however nice to see nana again, she always says nice things and is great maybe the community is nice there or she was just really born a good onion.
I was woken up by the wretched stomping of feet and by my mom's ear-piercing voice asking if the sunscreen was packed. I reached for my phone on my bedside table and checked for the time.
4:30 AM
I got up as soon as I saw the time, we were going to go around 5. I wore my shorts and picked up my prepared oversized red and white striped polo shirt and neatly tucked it under my shorts then I got on my worn out white converse and picked up my stuff and got it in my backpack that is almost falling apart, I'm thinking about buying a new one since this one is nearly 60 and it's going to retire soon.
I left my room after making sure I brought everything and the first thing my eyes set upon is my mother doing her lapses around the house ensuring every socket is without a plug and every faucet is closed, she's probably on her third lap now. It seems that Jasper and dad are in the car so I better hurry.
I got in the back of the car and I could already tell Jasper's gonna be puking in less than 30 minutes, God put my brother's motion sickness so high that it's ridiculous.
5:00 AM
Just about time, mom finished checking the house and we are all in the car and everything is settled for our 5 hour journey to Dewport, we'll arrive there around 10:00 am with enough time to settle in before lunch. I brought some books since it sounds kind of boring there, I'll need a good form of entertainment.
10:32 AM
After a very nauseous trip we're about to reach Dewport and with it a view from a mountain top. I scrubbed my eyes and peeked out of the window to see the little town with a port and its boats afloat, the dark blue water shines as it gets hit by the wonderful sunlight and I could see all the houses and shops bustling with the few citizens of this town. It is certainly beautiful and it's beside this mountain we're currently driving on.
I couldn't almost tear my eyes away from the scenery but I somehow managed to turn away for a while.
"Hey Jasper," I shook his shoulder as he rests on the closed window on his side "wake up we're here, look at the town." Although he didn't budged.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" Mom smiled as she looked upon her hometown "it has been years since I've been here but it feels good that nothing has changed since I left 20 years ago."
"Well I am certainly excited to see the whole town!" Dad laughed as he drove away from the mountain top view of the town.
Within 10 minutes we were driving through the town's center where shops, bakeries, and butcheries are and other shops as well and people are just running their errands probably buying their groceries and chatting with other people about their cat I imagine.
A few moments later I could see nana waiting in front of a house and as soon as we parked I got out and gave her a tight hug and she did too.
"Oh, I missed my little redhead," she smiled as she lets go of me "where's Jasper?"
