CH. 2
At lunch we sit on the wall again talking about gossip that is going around.
“Did you hear that Sabrina is dating a girl?” Vicky said
Tammy’s eyes go wide, “What? No way”
Vicky nods, “It’s true I saw them holding hands at wal-mart”
I look over to where Blake is with his buddies when catches my eyes he waves me over. I give a nod and then turn toward my friends
“Hey I’m going to go I’ll see you later” I say and then get up making my way toward Blake.
Once I get there his buddies just stare. I don’t blame them considering I never even talk to them. Blake smiles and says “Hey”
I sit beside him, “Hey”
“So dude you um going to into us?” a guy in all black with dark brown hair and green eyes asks.
“Right dude, Cory these are my buddies Kevin,” the one with brown hair, “Zach” the one with blonde spiky hair and blue eyes, “And then that’s Rubert but we call him Robby” the boy who has brown hair that falls in his eyes.
“What’s up?” Kevin asks with a huge smirk on his face and checking my body out.
I squirm, ‘Ok not cool’ I say to myself
Blake must have noticed because he looks at Kevin and says, “Dude lay off” Kevin shrugs and then goes back to doing tricks with Zach and Robby on their boards. Blake turns toward me, “Sorry about him he’s a girl watcher”
“Obviously” I murmur but Blake smiles and I know that he heard
“Hey are we doing practice at Zach’s or your place?” Robby asks Blake
“Zach’s”
I turn toward him confused, “Practice for what?”
“Our band”
My eyes go wide, “You’re in the band? What kind? What it’s called?”
He laughs, “Yes, and it’s a rock band sort of like sum 41, or 3 doors down that sort of rock, and we are called the B.K.Z.R it’s are names” he said shrugging
“So do you have like cds out and record and stuff?”
Kevin answers, “Yeah we’re actually going to be leaving here shortly”
That did not make me feel good for some reason I didn’t want Blake to go. I know I just met him but he just got here. I think to myself
“Oh, well that’s cool. When you leaving?”
“Month” Robby answered
I just stare at the ground not believing what I’m hearing. A month? It kept repeating in my head,
Blake leaned over and whispered in my ear, “Don’t be so sad, your making me start to think about staying.”
I force a smile on my face and look over at him, “No this is good news for the band, you guys will be jamming on stage soon and everything”
The bell saying lunch is over rings so I say good bye and then walk to my next class.
The remainder of the day I get bitched at by Tammy and Vicky saying that I shouldn’t have went over there. What was I doing? Why did I go? Do I like him? I didn’t reply to any of them I just kept walking thinking about what I found out and being happy for them but also sad knowing I have a month to get to know him.
When I get home mom is on the couch reading a magazine. It’s just me and my mother my dad left when I was three and never came back, but we get along good on our own.
Mom looks up from reading when I close the door. “Hey honey, how was school?”
“Good,” I mumble knowing it wasn’t as good as it could have been
She must have noticed it because she frowns and sits the magazine aside, “What’s wrong?”
I go and flop down beside her, “It’s just I met a boy today Blake and he’s a skate boarder and is in a band” I stop
“Ok, go on?” she urges
I sigh, “Well him and his band mates will be leaving in a month and I just I don’t know”
She smiles, “Honey a month is a while away.” I nod, “so what does your friends say about you hanging out with him?” my mom don’t mind who I like as long as I’m happy. But my mom doesn’t really care much for Vicky or Tammy.
I give a weak smile, “Oh their happy” I say sarcastic then in my normal voice I say, “Well Glory is actually” which is true, she thought it was cute and sweet.
“Glory is a good friend. But honey don’t let Tammy and Vicky get in the way of your choose of friends or boyfriends”
“Mom, I know” it’s not like I haven’t heard it before, I add. “And me and Blake is just friends we only met today”
She smiles, “I know but you never know”
She’s right I don’t know, I feel like I want to be more then friends with him badly. An idea pops in my head and I stand up then look at my mom, “Mom can I go to the skate park? I promise I’ll make it to ballet practice in time”
“Sure just don’t be late”
I roll my eyes and then head out the door head toward the park knowing Blake will be there.
