CHAPTER 2

“Hey Gracie! Over here!” I could hear Harry shouting at the top of his lungs.  Looking at Grace, I saw her roll her eyes. “Does he want anyone to notice him?” she muttered under her breath.  She was smiling, though. I know she missed them a lot since she last saw them.

I looked over at the guys, trying to pick out one in particular, Louis.  He was standing next to Niall, wearing a grey beanie over his slightly messy hair.  His navy-blue t-shirt and grey sweats looked slightly wrinkled from the long plane ride and he seemed a bit tired, but he smiled when he saw us.  “Hey, Lyla, long time no see,” he said, walking over to hug me.  I knew I was starting to fangirl, but it’s not every day that I get hugs from One Direction!

“Hi, Louis, how are you doing?” I asked him, returning his hug.  Over his shoulder I caught a glance of Scott looking at me and smiling.  When he saw me looking at him, he looked away, a blush spreading across his cheeks.  I pulled away from Louis and smiled at him.  He smiled back.

“Other than a bit knackered from that plane ride, I’m good.  Excellent since I saw my favorite American sister!” he replied, laughing.  It felt so good to be with all the guys again.  On our trip to London, I spent almost every day at their house, getting to know them, and we all grew quite close.  Louis and I found we’re more alike than we thought, and kind of adopted each other as brother and sister.

Looking over at the others, I saw Grace and Casey talking with Harry and the security people, Diana and Scott chatting with Liam and Niall, and Olivia looking as if she were about to faint while talking to Zayn.  I almost forgot, she’s never met them before.  I probably had the same reaction last summer, but now the boys were like family.  Feeling a hand grab mine, I looked down to see Louis pulling me towards Liam and Niall, and followed him, laughing.  He is so funny, and so cute when he acts like my older brother.  I smiled to myself, then looked ahead to see two boys, one blond and one brunette, rushing towards me.  Bracing myself, I let go of Louis’ hand just before they both crashed into me and gave me a huge bear hug.

“Lyla! We missed you!  You must come to London more!  Can we get food now?” Niall said energetically.  I smiled and rolled my eyes. “Hello, Niall, and you haven’t changed a bit since last summer.”

Turning to Liam, I gave him another hug. “Welcome to Florida, Liam,” I said with another smile.

“Oh, Lyla, it’s so good to be back in America.  I missed you and Grace terribly, though! Well, Diana and Scott and Casey, too.  Can’t forget them,” he replied, giving me another hug.  He is so sweet, and I loved spending time together in London.  All the boys treated Diana, Scott, and I as if we were their younger siblings.

“Alright, break it up,” Louis interrupted, smiling.  “You still have to say hi to Harry and Zayn, otherwise they’ll be heartbroken, and introduce me to your friend who’s fangirling over by Zayn.”  Then he looked over at Scott and Diana.  “And you to still have to say hello to me.  I might just burst into tears, and wouldn’t that be just horrible to think that I’m not loved," he sassed in typical Louis fashion.

I finished saying hello to the other guys, introduced Olivia to everyone, then followed Casey and Grace out of the airport to the cars. Scott ended up walking next to me, so we picked up our conversation from earlier.  Suddenly, he changed the subject.  “So, it’s good to be with the boys again, huh?” he asked me.

I smiled, thinking about all the memories we made last summer together.  “Yeah, I missed them a lot.  I talked to them a bit whenever Grace Skyped them, but that wasn’t very much.  I’m looking forward to spending more time with them before they head off on tour,” I replied.  “What about you? Excited to have someone else to talk sports to other than me?”  He and Niall had had several spirited sports discussions while we were in London.

“Yeah, I can actually talk about sports without having someone ask ‘What does that mean?’ every five seconds,” he said with a smirk.  I rolled my eyes.  Boys are annoying.

“Come on, you two, let’s go! These boys have a concert to be at soon, so hurry it up!” Grace shouted from up ahead.  I looked at Scott and smiled.  “Race you to the cars!” I challenged.

“Oh, it’s on,” he replied, and with that, we were off.
