A/N; Hey guys! This is my first story so please go easy on me. This is actually an entry for a contest called, "The Spooks" created by @masonfitzzy. You can check out her amazing horror stories. If there are any grammar or spelling mistakes, please let me know. This is all new to me so NO NEGATIVITY. However, I'd love to hear your comments and suggestions on how I can improve so please give this story a chance. If my chapters are too short, then it's because I'm trying to limit the whole story to about 1000 to 5000 words. PLEASE VOTE, COMMENT AND SHARE. Peace ;) ✌️

Crash! The piercing noise startled me. It was the middle of the night and I leaped out of bed. I glanced out the window for a moment and I caught sight of a bright, full moon in a starless and clear sky. I tiptoed down the stairs and I caught a glimpse of a cryptic shadow following my every move.

I stifled a scream. Beads of sweat trickled down my face. I realized the grandfather clock's loud ticks suddenly stopped. The realization hit me hard and I found my body was paralyzed. I tried to force myself to budge but I couldn't. I tried harder but I just couldn't get my feet off the ground; it was as if my feet were glued to the mosaic floor.

Abruptly, a strong wind pushed at my side and I toppled over with a great amount of force. I looked up to see the same cryptic shadow racing across the roof so rapidly, I almost missed it. Panting hard, I got up on my unsteady feet with great difficulty. I could see a faint light in the kitchen flickering, but instead of checking what it was, I wheeled around on the edge of my heels and started to run fast as lightning.

I raced up the flight of stairs to my room and I jerked the door open and slammed it shut. My body fell to the ground and I braced myself. I closed my eyes and tried to relax for a moment. What's happening to me? I thought to myself.

I thought I saw the doorknob turn. I stood still for a moment as my heart pounded against my chest. I got up quickly, and slowly turned the doorknob and opened the door. The door creaked open. I peered outside but nobody was there. However, I still felt a presence. Was this all an illusion?
