After Sophie's first 2 periods, it was lunch. Foxfire was a very rich school and had a cafeteria that was more like a food court, but it was weird because she had never seen any of the places before. So she, trusting Dex, followed him through the food court and ordered the same thing as him. She later realized that that was a VERY big mistake. She wasn't even really sure what she got for lunch. Oh well, she would just have to go home and eat Edalines famous mallowmelt, well famous to their family, dexs family, and of course, Keefe.
At lunch the whole group sat together at a picnic table outside in a garden area. Sophie was sitting next to Keefe and Dex, with linh across from her, who was sitting next to biana and tam. Fitz was at the end of the table because he was the last one to get there. Because sophie was boerd and in a slightly akward position, she asked
" So, what do you guys do around here? Sports, band, singing, clubs?"
" Well fitz, bangs boy and I are all on the football team, dex is in tech club, and biana and linh are in choir"
" Wait, Keefe, when did you start playing football"
" I started when I met fitz, and now after lots of practice, I'm the star quarter back of the team, and fitzy and bangs boy are both guards."
Sophie was shocked by this news. She had known keefe for a long time and never expected him to play football. But she guessed that it fit in with his whole school reputation and he was part of the cool group. He was the cute, popular, and mischievous guy who played football, who was friends with the pretty girl and the golden boy. But there was also a lot more to keefe than that social highschool label. He was also smart, caring, funny and a great artist, yet not many people know this side of him, but there was one more side to him that no one, besides her, knew about. It was the dark, depressed, angry, and broken part of him that she had seen only on rare occasions. This part of Keefe started with his dad who had unrealistic expectations of him, and was upset if everything was not perfect. It escalated when his mom left and joined the neverseen. But if keefe could deal with everything, she could too. And she would always be there to support him no matter what.
