Arcana

When dawn broke, the hummingbirds flickered into life, waking Martyn to find that Sarah wasn't there next to him. He started to panic and started to wonder if Ridgedog had taken her. Then she came in with some plants, some bearing berries. "Oh, sorry for the alarm. I got breakfast!" She smiled. Martyn took out some of the food he was given before his journey. "And I have some additions!" He added. They both laughed and ate in happy silence. After they finished, they set out again. Sarah restored the tree to its previous state prior to the renovations. They were walking in silence and this stimulated Sarah to whip up a truthful conversation. "You know, my name isn't Sarah."She started. Martyn didn't looked shocked and replied, "I know, Sarah doesn't exactly sound very angel-like, doesn't it?" Sarah was surprised. "My name is actually Arcana." Martyn looked happy and said, "What a beautiful name!" Arcana looked away, blushing slightly. A rustle sounded very suddenly causing both of them to freeze and look around in both fear and alarm despite putting on brave faces.

A hissing sound came from an unknown location and thick fog started enveloping them. Arcana let out a scream of pure fear for 1 second and then she was silent. "Sar- I mean Arcana?" Martyn was scared. A deep voice boomed in Martyn's ear, "So, you have been travelling with my dear little Arc, now have you?" Martyn jumped and replied meekly, "Y-yes." The voice boomed once again, "Well, then. You won't be with her for much longer." The fog started to fade and Ridgedog had Arcana in an extremely strong grip with one arm around her waist and the other around her neck in a headlock. Martyn gasped. Arcana was covered in nasty wounds, the worst looking one being a massive scratch over her eye, exposing her glowing, white angel eyes. Ridgedog probably found out and that was an extremely bad thing. "So. I found out your little secret, my dear." He purred in her ear, making her shudder. "And you." He snarled at Martyn in a menacing tone. "You've been with her all this time. And now that I have this weapon in my arms, I will destroy Mexxy and take back the throne of Voxeltopia!" He screamed with evil intent. He then moved his head to Arcana's head height and purred evilly, "And you will become my apprentice." With that, he flew off with Arcana in his arms, to his castle, which Martyn could see from here as it floated in the sky like some grand fortress.

He set his sights on it and headed for it, not turning his back once. He was determined to save Arcana and kill the devil of a demigod in the process.
