"Shit!" Alpha Taron snarls, reaching out for support from a wall of the castle. Rian reaches to help, but he falls on his ass in the next second, the wave nearly tearing out the ground beneath our feet.
My gaze lifts to Alpha Keir as he yells at Lauralyn, "Move!"
Lauralyn dodges backward and out of the way, the marble cracking and shattering beneath her feet. The crack moves through the castle, others jumping out of the way with haste.
Cormac states, "I don't know how Acacia has been able to withstand Aeon for this long...especially with the connection cut between all of you and Loki."
Alpha Taron and Rian glance at one another, a wave of sadness crossing their features at the distant memory.
"That's because it's not Queen Acacia, it's Ekáti's strength that's persisting," I speak up, looking back out the front doors of the castle and glimpsing the image of the goddess breaking down slowly. It's only gotten worse since...
The bridge of my nose stings at the thought of Dot. I've only ever been able to personify through the image Queen Acacia created of me in the pocket universe. So much has happened since this old-world god attacked, though I knew the direction to come...to be here when he struck. I knew where Dot was and who she is to me...all because of him, our mate. His godlike abilities showing me the way in my dreams leading up to this point in time, though I've never been able to see him.
To rewrite fate is to unbalance and cause chaos if a mistake is made in the process. Too many have already been made because I feel like I'm reliving this or a distant memory...dream?
"Alpha Merle?" Luna Laura asks me, my gaze turning to her before she continues, "You've been the only one able to get close to the Queen-" a sharp cry leaves her lips when the walls shake loudly, a vortex of shadows and wind descending upon the castle.
My gaze immediately pulls back to Queen Acacia, watching as the light around her flickers briefly. The air catches in my lungs, pushing off from the ground and getting close enough to her to see her skin is slightly translucent.
"My Queen," my voice is hardly a match for the torrenting winds, my gaze lifting to see Aeon's form about ready to crush us as it has been since this started.
Terror strikes my heart the second I glimpse him, down casting my gaze when Queen Acacia tells me, "I'm going to flicker out and our timeline will cease to exist," as she says this, tears fall from the corners of her eyes, her arm bending slightly as another wave crashes against her aura. She shakes her head and says, "I don't think Dot can save her sister any longer."
My eyes widen, as any doubt from her is enough to warrant concern. Swallowing hard, I watch as she falls to her knees and I near her, "My Queen!" Looking around, I see the last bits of land ebbing away, my heart beating fast as I suddenly tell her, "Send me, the real me, to the pocket universe. I'll save Princess Edith and help Dot anyway I can to continue to fix the timeline."
Queen Acacia's features shift slightly, though it's the voice of a goddess that responds, "Do you not understand that you will affect your family's bloodline? It's not as simple as ceasing to exist when you should come into existence once more...you will become your own line."
Father...Mother...
I glance back to the castle and see members of my pack helping those that they can through the chaos, my heart breaking as I'm forced to make the hard choice. I know I must help...because it's not about me and my family lineage, this is about our world existing and stopping Aeon from ever being able to destroy it, to begin with.
