"Merle!" Dot screams bloody murder, "No!"

He, my wolf, he hears nothing when he launches himself at Tresor without another thought. I hear her pleas as I'm torn down in the back of my mind.

"Stop!" She yells, moving Tresor out of the way as she brings the back of her forearm against the side of his muzzle. I want to call out to her, to warn her, though my wolf does not allow me an ounce of control, nor existence.

His muzzle snaps open before he twists his head quickly and barks only one warning. My heart won't come down from the elevation it sits at, fearing for her safety, though relieved he didn't intend to bite her.

My wolf turns his attention on Tresor, glaring and snarling, saliva flying widely as the snarl causes the incubus warlock to turn a new look of uncertainty.

"You can't!" Dot screams again, moving very quickly as my wolf charges head-on at Tresor.

Why though?

He betrayed her trust on a much different level than the rest...

...isn't the punishment for his crime...death? I won't let this selfish narcissist continue to draw another breath so long as this strength floods my veins.

My wolf appreciates the fuel I give him, feeding off it further as it translates to utter rage.

Dot's scream pierces my heart in the darkness of thick red walls surrounding my vision. When I can see, my wolf has his muzzle locked down on her forearm, trying to break and tear her arm completely from her body. She groans and cries when he pulls hard to the side, "M-Merl-e...p-pleas-e."

Why protect him?

"My goddess!" Tresor exclaims, advancing to her, yelling, "You have the power to stop this! You ca-"

Dot flicks her free arm up and back, wisps of magic, obsidian, and purple flecks restrain Tresor. Part of that magic...it silences him.

Why indeed?

Why not stop my wolf from destroying my-

My eyes widen as a splitting pain erupts in my skull. I groan, my wolf loosening his jaw around Dot's arm. Emotions flood over, crashing against my soul as everything comes back...

My mate...I won't let him destroy those precious to my heart.

We take control, releasing her arm completely as she slowly pulls it away. Dot cradles her almost mangled arm to her chest, her breathing uneven as her healing starts to kick in.

We stare at her, waiting for this explanation.

One of Dot's eyelids is half-lidded, trying to stay with us here as she gains her strength back. She tells us softly, "Tresor carries a gift that my mother can wield...so she can destroy Aeon...since I was such a fuck-up and couldn't do it myself when I had the chance..." she pauses as she winces, "...this is the only reason we can't kill him. For what he's done," her free arm clenches into a fist as she glares at him, "I will never forgive, because I don't know if I can stop what is happening to me from happening."

Tresor's gaze falls to the ground in front of him, unable to say anything as he is still restrained.

"Please understand...this is the only way," Dot begs us, smiling softly, "I wouldn't hurt you...ever. I won't risk using the extent of my strength any longer, for I fear that will only spiral me down further."

Our gaze follows and lands on Tresor, the fear clear in his eyes of what we can do. After a moment, our gaze travels back to rest on Dot.

"You are so strong," she tilts her head to the side as she kneels before us, breathing out slowly, "you want to protect me, and I love you for that...I love how you put yourself before me...I'm thankful for how blessed I am for the mates I've been gifted with."
