BIKE RIDES TO THE CAFE || HWANG HYUNJIN (HIATUS)

FIRST MEETING

*beep beep beep beep*

*CLANK*

I wake up groggily to the sound of my alarm. I hate waking up early on a weekend but I don't have a choice today. I'm going to be starting my new part time job today so I definitely can't be late. I lazily wake up and pull myself out of my comfortable bed. I'm in my last year of high school and ever since I started high school I've been living alone in Seoul while my family lives in Gwangju..

I'm on my way to the café that I'm going to be working at. Before this, the only place I've worked at was a family restaurant, which recently closed so I had to find a new part-time job.

I find my way into the café and go to the manager. The manager explains everything about the job and how I should get started.

"Hey, come here" says the manager.

A boy, who is tall, broad shouldered, and has a serious face shows up. He looks really familiar.

"This is our new employee, take care of her and tell her how stuff works around here, Hyunjin ah" says the manager.

I look up to the tall boy before me. I bow to convey my respect.

"Hey! I'm Hwang Hyunjin. Looking forward to working with you!" he says and gives out his hand for a handshake.

I shake his hand and look into his eyes, that's when I realize that I finally recognize him.

"Hello, I'm Im Areum! And aren't you the vice president of class 7?" I said.

"Wait, aren't you the disciplinary secretary of the student council?" he asks.

"Yes, I can't believe you recognized me!" I said, giggling.

"Wait, you guys know each other? Then that makes things easy. Now get moving, it's opening time!" says the manager.

Hyunjin shows me around the café and tells me about my duties. It's lunch time and apparently we have a break of one hour before our next shift starts.

"Hey there's a new place nearby, my best friend said that it has amazing brunch options. Wanna join? " asks Hyunjin.

"Oh, sure! Let's go~" I said.

We both went to the place to have lunch. The waiter brought us the menu.

"What do you wanna have?" asked Hyunjin.

"Hmm I don't know. Do you have anything in mind?" I asked him.

"Yup! Want me to order the same thing for you?"

"Sure!"

After he finishes ordering, he looks at me with a mischievous smile.

"What is it?" I asked him.

"Say, do you want some.....ICE CREAM after we finish?" he asked, like a little kid.

"Aww sure, why not?"

"Hehe, okay then~ What flavor do you want?"

"I'll take chocolate!"

"You too? Yay~ Chocolate buddies!" he says, and gives me a fist bump.

As we wait for our order we talk and get to know each other.

"Say, should I call you Areum-ssi or just Areum?" he asks.

"Whichever you're comfortable with~" I said.

"Then say Areum, are you from Seoul?" he asked.

"Haha no, I'm originally from Gwangju. I don't have that much of a dialect but I guess you could tell eh?"
