Jayda and the others made it about half an hour before they stopped.“God damn it Reilly, why did you have to go hero on us?” Jayda slammed her backpack on the ground. “You stupid son of a bitch! We could have helped you! We could have gotten away.”   Jayda dropped to the ground in tears.

“Alright, we need find a place where we can get some sleep.” Chris scanned the area, “There is a tent in the distance. We can sleep there.” Jayda looked up at Chris and glared, then got up and headed toward the tent.

It was dark before they got to the tent. The tent had enough room to fit about ten people in it so there was plenty of room. “ I’m gonna make a fire if anyone wants to stay up a little bit longer.” Chris walked off and grabbed a few nearby logs. The fire roared with in minutes of it being lit. Everyone sat around the glowing flame in silence. Maggie broke the silence

“I can’t believe he’s gone, he killed himself in order to save us,” everyone stared at the breathing flame.

“No, he is not dead I know he isn’t. He got away somehow,”  Chris looked intensely at the fire, “I know he got away. He is the fastest runner out of us all and he had given me most of his supplies this morning so he wouldn’t be weighted down,” Realizing he said too much he looked away quickly from the fire.

“You knew this was going to happen!” Jayda stood up, enraged, “ You knew that he was gonna die!”

Chris looked down, “ Not exactly, he said that if anything like that happens that he was going to be the decoy.” Chris looked up and smiled, “All he wanted was to protect us.” Then his eyes widen. “ Jayda... behind you.”

Jayda grabbed one of her machetes and swung backwards, but her hand was stopped mid swing.

“ You don’t want to kill me now, don’t you?” The soft voice brought joy to everyone. Jayda looked behind her to see Reilly’s bruised and tattered form standing behind her. “You aren’t gonna get rid of me yet.” He smiled and looked over at Chris, nodded and looked back at Jayda. She was still in complete awe that he was alive.

“ But how?”Maggie stood up. “ There was at least thirty or forty of them, you couldn’t have killed them all.”

“Well lets just say that hunting experience helped. I isolated about two or three of them at a time and dealt with them that way,”

“And you didn’t get bit?” Chris was in shock.

“I only killed about five to ten of them and got away from the oth-” A zombie had come up behind Reilly and grabbed him by his shoulders. He managed to grab the head before it came close to his neck, but it suddenly let him go. Jayda had stabbed it through it’s chest and again in the stomach. Reilly let go of the head and turned to watched the lifeless body drop to the ground. Before he could thank her, she wrapped her arms around him. “ Hey, I’m a little sore,” Reilly returned the hug, “ ow, careful serio-”

“ I don’t care!” Jayda yelled and looked up at him, “Don’t you ever leave me again, ever!” She tightened her grip on him. “ Just don’t ever leave us,”

Reilly sighed, a smile on his face, “ I won’t, but you should really let me sit down now.” Jayda let go of him and sat down next to him. “I also found these on my run,” Reilly pulled four handguns out of his bag and handed one to the girls, “ Now shoot lightly ladies, there’s only one spare mag for each of us,”

“Where did you get these?” Madisyn asked while examining the pistol.

“ I found a ranger station on the way here, had some dead officers so I scavenged.” Reilly looked through his bag and pulled out a few fish, already gutted. “Lets throw this over the fire and eat dinner.” Everyones face lit up,
