I woke up that Friday like any other. My alarm sounded and I rolled out of bed and pulled myself down the hall to the showers and let the hot water run through my hair. As I watched the steam billow up to the tiled roof it hit me.

Today was the day.

Classes could not have gone by fast enough I couldn't focus in English and all through out art I contemplated every scenario for how I horribly mess up, most of which ended with the auditorium imploding. Lucy must have noticed because she moved her stuff over next to where I was painting.

"You know you don't need to be so worried right? I've heard you you're not that bad."

"How could you tell I was worried?"

"Your painting is abstract and a bit frightening."

"Oh well I guess I am a bit nervous about singing in front of all of those strangers, judging me, staring at me..." I trailed off staring at the unclean lines of my painting. What had I gotten my self into.

"Well you're going to be awesome and they're going to love you. Stop being such a worry." Her smile was genuine and I really wanted to feel the way she felt but my heart just wasn't in it.

For the rest of the class I tried to brighten up in my depressing painting.  Lucy persistently pep talked me and went about with her project until the clock struck the end of the studio session. I packed up my things and hung up my apron.

"I think ill stay late and work a bit more. Good luck at your audition!"

I thanked her and started for the door. When I reached the handle she yelled across the class room.

"Hey if you get to nervous you can look at Donald." She winked and my face turned the brightest shade of red. The other students in the room giggled a bit making it worse.

I rushed out of the room and headed to the preforming arts center. But when I arrived there was already a line.

An pale lanky looking boy was in front of me so I figured maybe talking would calm my nerves so I turned to him with an out stretched hand.

"Hi I'm melody" I smiled brightly and shook his hand.

"melody? that's perfect for this." His joke kinda fell flat but I giggled a bit just so he wouldn't feel bad.

"I'm Benji, Oh and this is my room mate Jessy." He to an attractive looking guy with dark hair. He defiantly looked treble material.

For  while we talked about the audition and why we showed up. slowly the line dwindled down and Jessy was next then Benji who wished me the best before we went in. Then finally it was my turn. I took a beep breath and walked in with as much confidence as I could muster.

Passing through the door was like passing to a new world. A world of fear pain and anxiety, you could feel it in the room. There were several groups of people sitting together with paper and pens. Some even started making notes as I walked to the front. I heard a voice call from the back.

"Hey baby introduce your self when ever your ready." My mind was racing my on earth did he call me baby, and in fount of all these people! Did he want me to screw up? Never the less the sat forward in his set and hooded to me reassuringly as if saying Just go for it.

I looked out and saw a blond girl in the front look back at him a roll her eyes.

Taking a beep breath I began.

"Hi my name is melody konamori, I'm a musician and a well rounded dancer."

I struggled to find my first pitch in my head, I didn't want to hum it out loud and make them think I Cant find my pitch on my own but I found it and began my rendtion of the sudition song.

When I finished I actually felt confident. I  felt as if I'd finally done something right. I stood up there and sang to all those people on my own. As I county a glimpse of Donald smiling up at me. He really knew how to make a girl feel special. I walked out and the next girl went in looking scared so i wished he luck and she cracked a smile, which made me feel good. We were all jumping into the lions den and now it was up to fate to decide where we should go from here.

I decided to sit in the quad while I waited for the adrenalin to finally calm down and my heart beat to go back to normal. Lucy came over to me covered in her art as always and took a seat on the grass next to me.

"So spill! how'd it go?" I never really had girlfriends that hung out and asked questions like girls do, well other then my sisters that is.

"It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I managed to stay in tune."We giggled and talked for a bit about the audition and Lucy wanted to know who all was there so we went on with that for a while until my phone buzzed.

DONALD~ Hey auditions are almost over want to hang out?

Lilly looked over and squeaked when she saw who it was from.

"Text him back! text him back!"

My hands shook a bit while I tried to find the words.

ME~ sure but where?

DONALD ~ how about a cozy night in? your place, Ill bring the snacks you bring the terrible movies?

Lilly just about lost it. I didn't know how to respond. I mean he wanted to spend the afternoon with me watching movies. We've never hung out alone, we were alwayss in a public place. I just sat there for a while not really knowing what to text him when Lucy took my phone.

ME~ sure! see ya at 8?

DONALD~ Awesome see ya then beautiful.

I really wanted to hit Lucy. I wasn't ready for this. Or was I? Something in me really wanted to see him tonight but part of me still thought he was just a player. Ever since we got coffee together I felt guilty for thinking that, but it was so hard no to when the facts were right there.

I got over the shock and my anger for Lucy and we laughed and talked about what movies I could get together.

I had myself a date tonight.
