Chapter 2 - A Huge Surprise

So I just got a feeling that you all are just dying to know what happens next. I'll just let the story tell itself. On to reading!

"So what is it that you want to ask me, Ash?" I wondered.

"Before all this highschool stuff," he started."I was traveling all around working on getting my Pokémon stronger. When I got in high school, I couldn't decide on what I wanted to do next. But during your graduation speech, it dawned on me on what I wanted to do. You said you might be going back to Kalos and I was just wondering, would you mind me going to Kalos with you, and travel? You could come along with me if you like."

I just stood there just trying to suck in on what he just asked me. He actually wants to come back to Kalos with me and wants me to travel with him on a journey that I never expected. Before all this, my mom wanted me to become a Rhyhorn racer. But now Ash wants me to travel with him in the Kalos. I got a little light-headed from this fact. I couldn't help but wonder on what I wanted to do.

"If you don't want to, that's fine," he stated. "Otherwise, I'd probably just stay here in the Kanto region and try to find a career or go off to college."

I just stood there awed. I wasn't sure on what I wanted to do. I wanted to stay here in the Kanto region with Ash and be with him, but I wasn't sure what I'd do here. But with him asking me this, I couldn't help but give him a straight answer. "Of course I will, Ash," I answered. "Even if you were staying here in Kanto, I'd still make the decision to stay with you. But with you saying you want to go to Kalos, I'll still come with."

"Really? You'd stay with me no matter what?" he asked.

"Well I am your girlfriend, so of course."

Even though he is my boyfriend, I still blush. I don't know why but I still do. I guess it's just the fact that I've known him for so long and had a crush on him ever since at Oak's Summer Camp.

"There's nothing in the world that would stop me from loving you, no matter what happens," he said embracing me in a nice long hug. I got to admit, it did feel awkward with our parents standing right there, but I feel as if it was worth it. I get to spend my journey with Ash for lifelong success. Thinking of all this made me blush even more than I was just seconds ago. What was seconds felt like minutes from the strong embrace.

For now, Ash and I went to our separate homes to pack up for our adventure.

"Just remember, Serena," mom started. "Only pack what you will need. I'll be staying here in the Kanto region because I got a good career here and plan on staying. If you need anything right away, give Champion Diantha a call. She said she'd help you out if you need anything, whether you call or not."

"What do you mean by that?" I ask.

"You'll know when the time comes," she states with a smile.

I couldn't help but wonder what she meant by that. 'You'll know when the time comes.' Those words just bounced around in my head just wondering what that meant. Oh, well, no need to worry about that right now. Right now I had to focus on packing.

I had found my special pink bag that I had ever since that day at summer camp. I held it close to my heart. This was the very first gift that Ash had given to me a few days after he helped me out. I had it put in plastic to keep it nice. Now seemed like the perfect time to use it. I only packed the things I might use such as; toothbrush, toothpaste, extra set of clothes, my rhyhorn racing costume, as well as some Pokéballs. I never know what kind of Pokémon I will come up to, so I might as well.

"Come on out, Fennekin," I commanded.

Fenn! Fenn! she barked when she came out.

"Ready to go home? This time it'll be different. Ash will be with us and we'll be traveling across the region."

She just sat there, happily wagging her tail. I could tell she couldn't wait.

At the same time, I couldn't help but wonder what Ash was doing at this time.

ASH'S POV

"Oh man, oh man, oh man," I worried. "I got no idea what to bring. I know I'll need clothes and everything but..."

"Ash!" mother yelled upstairs. "Don't forget to bring an extra pair of underwear!"

Groan... "Thank you, mother!" I yell back down with a bit of tone in my voice.

"Don't use that tone of voice with me!"

I sweatdropped. "Sorry..."

Don't tell my mother this, but, I'm not bringing an extra pair of 'underwear.'

I feel as if I was all prepared except for one thing. I had a friend of mine that always wanted to go to Kalos. Now's the perfect time to ask him. I decide to call him up.

"Hey, Ash," he started. "I heard you graduated today. Nice job! It's a pretty big accomplishment."

"Thanks, man!" I respond. "I called you because my girlfriend, Serena, and I are going to the Kalos region. I know you've been talking about how much you wanted to go there. So now I'm wondering if you would like to?"

"Of course, man! I would love to. Going here would be a huge step in my goals. So when would we be going?"

"I'll pick you up tomorrow morning. Make sure you're ready and bring the equipment you'll be using."

"Alright man. See you tomorrow!" he said hanging up.

Now I'm ready to go!

SERENA'S POV

Finally, I'm done packing. Man, I can't wait. I still can't get over the fact that Ash and I will be traveling together. It'll feel good having him next to my side.

Now, he did say that he never won a Pokémon League before. But for this one, it will change. I will cheer him on until the very end. I will give him hope on all his gym battles as well as the elite four and champion that he will win.

After thinking of all the things we'll be doing for a few hours, I finally fell asleep...
