Yang had always hated winter, it was cold, dreary and definitely not the kind of weather to be working in a cafe with a cheap white blouse, short black skirt and apron. Yang hated the fact that she had to wear a skirt, if it was her decision she would be in trousers and a jacket, but as a waitress she had no choice. It was Friday and as usual it was the busiest day of all of them. How many times she had gone over and over ever table on Fridays she'd lost count within the first hour of her shift. The only good thing about working at the café was a raven haired girl who came there every Friday. Yang would go and talk to her but despite her flirtatious attitude, when it came to the most gorgeous girl she'd seen...... all she could do was gay panic and serve the other tables so someone else could do her.
Yang's sister, Ruby, who would always warn her whenever the girl came in, was stood at the counter making coffee for her best friend Weiss, who worked with her, which is made Yang smile a little, she always shipped them. After Ruby had made the coffee she slid over to the counter and motioned over to the tables so they could swap, it was like this a lot, for half the day while Ruby would work the till and make the drink and give out cake and cookies, Yang would take the larger meals over to the tables and clean up, then after lunch, they would swap. Most people found this normal but only her close friends who worked there like Ruby, Weiss, Pyrrha, Jaune, Ren and Nora, knew that it was because the raven haired girl came to the café in the morning so then she didn't have to serve her, her drink.
But this time she hadn't come, at seeing this Yang sighed, she'd been waiting too see her after an awful week at her collage, Ruby had walked over and patted her back as they exchanged places.
After serving a few people the time only seemed to go slower after every serving, Yang sank onto the counter after giving out yet another latte. The bell to the cafe rang and she sighed even further and started to lean herself back up "Heya, welcome to Café Haven how may I help.....you" Yang's hand slipped on the table and she fell forward banging her head and looked up then seeing the raven haired girl in front of her.
Yang made a yelp and stood up straight before turning bright red "um can I get a hot chocolate please?" The raven haired girl looked down a little with her face just as red, Yang's stomach ached with butterflies as she looked at the girl that made her heart soar "Y-Yea of course" She fumbled around before swearing at the machine as she made the girls hot chocolate and handed it to her "here you go" Yang tried her best to smile and in her relief the girl smiled back and with a sigh she relaxed "Thanks" The girl turned around and started walking away and she turned her head back with a smile "The name's Blake by the way" and walked away to sit down in her usual seat, leaving Yang a mess as she served the next customer.
The weeks passed and every Friday soon became the best day every time, Yang and Blake quickly became friends and even though they had nearly nothing in common the conversations just kept on coming. Everyone of Yang's friends soon became to like Blake with a mutual thought in their heads 'They definitely like each other' but as their friendship grew, so did the snow storms and Blake being as fond of them as Yang wasn't, regularly went to the café so she could be outside. This made Yang puzzled but it made great conversations. As did Blake's cat-like features.
Before she knew it Yang had fallen hard for Blake and not once did she regret meeting her. Winter had gone and so had spring and collage had ended with a Yang and everyone couldn't be happier. Over the time period of 3 months everyone had found out that all of them had been accepted into Beacon University and then everything plummeted.
It was 3 weeks before Christmas and as usual Yang was in the middle of her shift talking to Blake as she cleaned the tables nearby her, it has been almost a year since they'd officially met and Yang couldn't believe it. The time had passed her so quickly and it was just unbelievable and as the time passed Yang could barely keep the feelings she felt for Blake a secret, every time she looked at her it was an overflow of cuteness and every time she smiled Yang had to hold herself back from fling herself across to her a d enveloping her in the biggest hug and wrapping her fingers in her soft black hair. It was overwhelming and Yang just wished for her feelings to stop but the more she tried the more drawn to her she was.
