All the way Alicia showed no sight of fatigue or pain, and that surprised Snape a bit. Once they'd bought all that that she needed they readied themselves to disapparate.
"Sir,now that I have my wand, may I try doing it?"
A small smile played around the edges of his lips, " You'll learn that in your fifth year."
Alicia smiled and nodded her head.
" Give me your hand."
She did hesitate for a second, but placed her hand in his anyways.***
"Sir,where are we going?" She asked, and tried her best to hide the fear in her voice.
" We're going to my quarters;in the dungeons," He said, and she had to skip to keep up with him, " I have to correct some papers."
"Sir,what do you teach?"
"Potions," He replied distastefully.
" My mum used to teach chemistry," Alicia told him,and there was a hint of sadness in her voice, " She really was a- well, she was a great teacher."
"Well potions and chemistry are the same thing, only chemistry is for muggles."
" Muggles?"
"People who don't know magic," Snape said, " That's not necessarily a bad thing."The dungeons were cold,Snape took out a pile of neatly folded papers and began to correct them. Alicia stared in awe at what she saw: vials, weird looking flowers, herbs, a liquid that looked like blood, and, wait it can't be, a frog's leg. Stacked high on the shelves were thick dusty books:
A Beginner's Guide To Potions, Potions:A History, How To Brew The Perfect Potion, and many many more books.
'He can open a library,' Alicia thought.
"You can sit,you don't have to keep standing."
"Yes sir, thank you sir." She took a seat on the nearest chair.
She didn't say a word after that.Every now and then Snape would look at his daughter, who was very pale and sickly thin. He could see the fear that never left her face, and how she would touch her ribs and wince in pain. She still couldn't get her eyes away from the books and from his so very very weird materials.Snape looked up from his work; he only had a few more papers to correct, " Do you want to brew a potion?"
Alicia's eyes lit up, me? God,is there anyone else in this room that he's talking to? He wants me to brew a potion?
"Yes sir!" Her smile was too big for her face, she hopped off of her seat.
"Well,we'll brew Polly Juice potion."
"What's that for,sir?"
"It makes you look like the person you want to be."
From his pocket he took out a strand of hair, " To do the potion we will need hair."
And so they began,Alicia did most of the work, and he was fascinated(but of coarse, being Severus Snape he didn't show it) at how fast she worked. She mixed and chopped the herbs with absolute ease, and didn't get anything wrong, she was a natural.
They've done the potion, and Alicia became very jumpy. She was too happy, way too excited.
"But sir you didn't tell me whose hair that is." She said, " Who will I turn to if I drink that potion?"
"Well, you won't drink it," He told her, " Because if you do you'll turn into me."
She nodded her head, and so Snape took it and locked it away in a little cupboard."Sir,can you teach me how to-" She stopped there,it was a stupid question to ask,it would reveal everything;so she corrected herself, "How to levitate things?"
At that precise moment a rumble shook the fire place, and out came Lucious Malfoy followed by his son,Draco.
"Hello dear old friend!" Lucious stepped forward and stuck out his hand for Snape to shake.
"Lucious,it's an honor to have you here ," Snape shook his hand,it was obvious from the way Snape spoke that having Lucious in his dungeons was no honor at all."Me and Narcissa have to go somewhere; it's urgent, and I was wondering if you could take care of Draco..."
Snape nodded his head, that's all he needed:taking care of a spoiled brat.
"Thanks Snape," And then he turned his head,so that he was looking at Draco, "I do expect that you behave boy."
"Yes father."
