I stretched my arms above my head as the sun beamed through my window, the light hitting my face. I rolled over in bed and I reached for my phone to check the notification I had gotten while I was asleep.

The first text that I looked at was the one from Camille:

“So whose house are you waking up at today?(;”

I rolled my eyes as I responded:

“Casa de Lowe, as usual.”

Was that even a question? Of course I wouldn’t go home with him.

I looked at the next text and it said it was from Dana:

“Good morning, Princess.”

Princess.

That’s the second time he’s called me that. First he was the only one to call me my full name and now he’s made up his own for me. Of course.

I decided to ignore the text because, quite frankly, I didn’t want to talk to him.

I got out of bed and got into my normal routine.

I went into my bathroom and turned on the shower before I stepped out of my clothes I wore to bed last night.

The hot water hitting my skin felt amazing while the room filled with steam.

I grabbed my bottle of shampoo and squeezed some into my hands. The smell of coconuts filled my nose as I washed my hair.

After I finishing my shower, I turned off the water. I reached for the towel that was hanging next to the door and I dried my body and then my hair a bit before wrapping it around me.

I walked from the bathroom back to my bedroom so that I could change into my clothes for the day.

I didn’t feel like doing much, so I decided to just wear sweats with a tank top. No sense in trying really.

I attempted to towel dry my hair for a few more minutes before giving up and deciding to let it air dry.

I returned to the bathroom so that I could hang my towel back up and let it dry.

“Mom,” I called as I walked down the stairs. “Mom?”

I got into the kitchen, still not getting a response from her.

She must have left for work already.

Being a nurse, her work schedule was pretty packed. Sometimes she would get called in but she the hospital stuck to the schedule ninety percent of the time when it came to my mom.

“Macey!” I called my dog’s name.

My corgi trotted into the kitchen, immediately lying on her back when she stopped at my feet. I leaned down to her and pet her stomach, making her kick her leg.

I heard my phone go off and I looked leaned across the counter to grab it.

Dana:

“Are you ignoring me?”

I thought about responding but I decided against it. He would probably just think I didn’t have my phone or something.

I put my phone back down and padded over to my fridge to see what there was I could cook.

Even though it was already lunch time, I ended up settling with eggs and toast.

As soon as I sat down, my phone went off again.

Dana:

“Ignoring me isn’t going to get you anywhere, Princess.”

I rolled my eyes and set my phone down again.
