Sara had just walked in the door when her two kids jumped on her.
"Mommy!" Four year old Dinah shouted as the reached out for a hug. Next to her was her younger brother, three year old Rip; named for his mothers' former mentor and friend.
"Hey peanut!" Sara said hugging Dinah.
"Hey babe." Ava shouted from the kitchen of their D.C. home. After embracing Rip and sending the kids on a mission with their toys, Sara made her way to the kitchen and embraced her wife.
"What's cooking?" Sara said
"Can we go outside?" Rip said running into the kitchen. Through the window he pointed to the sunny sky. "Please? Pleaaaase?" Dinah soon joined her brother for a chorus of pleases.
Sara looked at her wife for approval. Ava nodded "Dinner will be ready soon." She said. "Don't let them get dirty." Sara smiled and went into the fenced in backyard with her kids. She sat in the lawn with her sunglasses on and watched her kids play.
"Hey buddy." Sara said as Rip ran over to her. He pulled her sunglasses off her face and put them on. He stuck out his tongue before running off.
With a "Mommy look!" Sara's attention was brought to Dinah who was climbing a small tree in the back yard.
"Dinah!" Sara called out. "Be careful." Sara stood up from her spot in the lawn and with her hand over her brow she was watching her daughter in the tree. Once Sara determined that her daughter had climbed high enough she told her to climb down. Her daughter listened and began to descend the tree.
There was a tugging at her pant leg and Rip stood next to her. He was covered head to toe in dirt.
"Rip!" Sara exclaimed. Her son smiled at her as his eyes squinted in the sun. "What happened?" She asked, but the giggling toddler did not answer. She stared at him. "Where are my sunglasses?" She asked. Rip just burst into laughter. Sara smiled at her son's laugh.
"Sara." Ava called from the door. "Dinner's- Rip! Sara! I told you not to let them get dirty! What happened?"
The reformed assassin looked at her laughing son and then at her angry wife. "I think he buried my sunglasses."
