They aren't alone with the mutants out in that cold, dead forest...
Adam's POV
I look out of the shattered window of the mansion. We were lucky to have found it. After the "Bang" we call it, Hunter told us about a forest that supposedly had a large mansion in it. We went there, trying to avoid any mutants. Luckily, we made it. The stories of the mansion had been true. We made a wall around it and gathered weapons and medical supplies. Now... The mansion was our home.
I sighed. Sometimes, survival felt useless. I had thought of suicide. Once. I missed Alesa, even though we had broken up right before the Bang. She had dumped me, but I still loved her. I just hoped she was in a vault or walls.
"What'cha thinking about?" I heard Tyler ask. I loomed over at the doorway and saw him standing there. "Nothing." I said, looking out the window again.. "Aw, come on!" Said Tyler. I could hear his footsteps approaching me. "Something's on your mind." He nudged me.
I looked at him. "It's just..."
"Just what?"
"Why? Why do we choose to live out in the wastelands instead of vaults? We're lucky to have survived for this long. But, what if our luck isn't as lucky as we think?"
"'Cause, vaults are for noobs."
I frowned. Tyler lightly punched my arm. "Come on, dude! Stop worrying so much!"
I sighed. "Tyler..."
"What?"
"Our life isn't a game. Not even close. Stop treating it like one."
The smile wiped off of Tyler's face. "S-Sorry if I offended you or anything."
"it's fine."
We sat there in silence for a couple of minutes. "Hey." I heard Jason say. Me and Tyler looked over at the door. "You two looked bummed out. What's going on?"
Tyler sighed. "Nothing..."
Tamashii's POV
I dug through the wooden crates of stuff that we had. Keeping stock of everything was always good. Ever since PAX, Justin had disappeared. I missed him with all of my heart, and wished he would come back some day. I didn't really talk much, especially since some of the boys made fun of my voice. Because of the experiences from my sister, I was used to it, but it still hurt.
Suddenly feeling upset, I dug into the pocket of my Pikachu hoodie. I pulled out a picture of me and Justin. It always cheered me up. I smile, then put it back in my pocket. I open another crate and start looking through the supplies.
"How's the stock keeping going?" I heard a familiar voice say. For a second, I thought it was Justin. But it was just Nate. I frowned, then looked over at him. "Good. I think we might need some more food, though."
Nate nodded. "What's wrong? You seem upset."
"N-Nothing's wrong." I lied.
He smirked. "You're lying."
"How did you know?"
"Tamashii, you're frowning, and your voice is gloomy. Obvious something's on your mind."
I sighed. "I'm just thinking about Justin."
"Oh."
"Yeah... I just really miss him still." I chuckled. "Even after all these years."
"Don't worry, Tamashii! I'm sure he's alright!"
"You sure?"
"I promise."
I forced a smile at Nate, then got back to checking boxes. Justin was still on my mind.
