I woke up early this morning. And I begged all morning to see my friends. My mom finally told me Dylan was coming at noon. I had a few hours to think about what I was going to say to him. Like I don't remember you, but I heard you're my best friend. Maybe I'll remember when I see him. I hate not remembering. It sucks. Everyone expects you to remember, but you can't and you try so hard. Hopefully he'll understand, right? Well anyway, while waiting for him to come, my nurse did this special activity to try to help me remember. She would show me old photos and items like a picture of me and my mom just a week before the accident, and my soccer jersey. None of it helped. In fact, it just made me even more upset. The nurse could tell I was getting stressed out and said I could take a break and wait until Dylan got there. He was going to be here soon and I'm not sure why but I was excited. Maybe he'll be the key to memory... or maybe not. I'm just hopelessly wanting that to happen. The nurse even said I'm probably not going to get my memory back from the brain trauma I got. Thinking about all this made me cry. My parents patted me on the back and stroked my hair until I calmed down. Which was weird because they are still strangers to me but knowing that they are my parents I guess makes it better. Oh well, Dylan was going to be here any minute.

I was only a few minutes before my mom came in and said someone was here to see me. Then all the sudden he walked in.

He was gorgeous. Dark brown hair and hazel eyes that made you want to melt. "How could he be just me friend?" I thought.

I sat up in my bed trying to fix the mess my hair was. He looked at me, swallowed hard and sat next me on the bed.

"Hey Amber." he said

"Hey, Dylan."

"I know you don't remember me but-" he began, I cut him off.

"No, I dont, but I do know that you were in the car with me the night I went into a comma. They also mentioned something about being my best friend."

He smirked and looked at the ground,

"Yep, that's true. I'm not sure if they told you this but I've stopped to check on you multiple times this past year. I was really worried about you. We all were.. we didn't think you were going to wake up...." he started to choke up. I leaned over and hugged him.

"Well I did, and I'm here now. Everything's alright now." I lied, its not alright, I still can't remember.

"I'm sorry, it's just..." he began as I cut him off again,

"I know"

It was quiet for a few minutes but then he broke the silence.

"So, anything you want to know about you? That you haven't found out yet?"

"Yes please!" I said cheerfully.

We talked about so much. From my obsession with pandas to my fear of thunder. As I talked to him I couldn't help but notice how attractive he was. I started to think if he had or girlfriend or something.

"Do you have a girlfriend?!" I blurted out. What the hell Amber? Why would you ever say that? I immediately regretted saying that.

He laughed and said, "Haha, no. No I don't. Haven't had one since the 6th grade."

Are you kidding me? How? You're gorgeous!

"Ohh, sorry, just wondering." I said.

He just thought it was funny and didn't mind, thank god. Was I always this awkward, I hope not.

A few hours past and it was 6 o'clock. The nurse came in and told Dylan he had to go home and let me rest so I could have the strength to leave tomorrow. I sat up and asked, "I get to leave tomorrow?!"

"If all goes well, which it has so far." she replied.

I smiled from ear to ear and almost cried of joy. I really hate hospitals.

Well anyway, the nurse said she'll leave us to say goodbye and left the room. Then Dylan turned to me and said,

"Hey, since you get to get out of here tomorrow, would you want to go and get lunch with me or something?"

I probably looked like an idiot because I tried to stand up but got caught in the cords attached to me. Dylan laughed, "I'll take that as a yes." and then kissed me on the forehead.

"Bye Amber!" he waved.

"Bye! See you tomorrow!" I said smiling.
