Am I Dead?

I was in pitch black darkness. Then, a bright light sprang into my vision. I walked towards it, curiousty getting the best of me.

I stepped into the light and was surrounded by fire. Just like home. But, something very different was there. A woman. Well, to be more specific, my mother.

"M-Mama?" I asked, sadness overtook me.

"Hello, darling. Come on inside! I made your favorite casserole." She giggled softy to herself as she walked inside.

I slowly followed her into our mansion. I follwed Mama to the dining room. Mama took her seat at the head of the table.

I looked at her. "Am I dead?"

Mama laughed. "Of course not honey! You've been playing outside in the garden, remember?"

I grinned. My memory came back. "Oh yeah. I'm sorry I asked such a strange question." I was so happy. I've always been happy. Nothing ever bad happened in my life.

Wait...is that right? I feel like that's not true. Oh well. I'll find out later, after dinner. I joyfully walked to Mama's side. I sat down next to her.

We smiled at each other. Everything was just perfect. But something in my heart was telling me this wasn't right.

Once we finished dinner I went into the lounge and layed down on the couch. I sighed in joy and felt my eyelids get heavy.

"Trina-...Katrina. Stay-...Stay with me." I heard a voice call to me.

"Huh?" My eyes opened wide again. Mama walked into the room.

"Are you alright, honey?" She whispered soothingly. She sat down next to me and stroked my hair.

"I thought I heard Papa calling me..." I whispered as I stayed close to her.

"Were you dreaming again, sweetie?" She chuckled softly into my hair.

"I guess. Mama? Do you think I would ever make it on my own without you and Papa?" I looked up at her.

"I think we've taught you well. You're a good child, Katrina." She kissed the top of my head.

"I love you Mama. I would never want you to go away." I hugged her tightly.

"Katrina...-Ome back. Please, come back." I heard Papa desperately say again.

"I would never leave you. Someone would have to kill me to take you away." Mama whispered. Then everything came back.

"Someone already did..." I whispered.

"What?" Mama asked, taken by surprised.

"Your dead." I looked up at her again. She looked completely distraught.

"We could stay together, forever." She said, hope filling up in her eyes.

Tears welled up in my own. "I'm sorry, Mama. I have to go back. Papa needs me. I really don't want to leave but...it's only right. I'm sorry Mama." A tear slipped down my cheek.

I stood up. She gripped my wrist, crying her eyes out. "Please don't leave me, honey."

That tugged a string at my heart. More tears slipped down my cheeks. "I'm sorry, Mama. I love you." I raised my head up to the ceiling. "Whoever you are, let me leave! I won't play your games! I won't be your pawn. I won't let you mess with my family!!" I screamed.

Mama screamed in pain and sadness and everything grew black again. I opened my eyes slowly, afraid of what lie I would have to go through next. I met a pair of redish-brown eyes. I was in my Papa's arms. I blinked slowly. "Am I really dead, now?" I whispered.

Papa hugged me close. "I thought you were gone." He rocked me in his arms.

I hugged him back. "I heard you. I could hear you calling for me." I mumbled into his chest. He kissed the top of my head.

"I'll kill whoever did this." He said, an angry aurora surrounded him.

"I have an idea who. But, is the young master and his betrothed alright?" I looked past my Papa's shoulder and saw the young master looking at us in shock. He was holding Lizzy.

"Yes, they are alright." Papa whispered.

"That's good." I went to try and stand up, but pain shot through my chest. I gripped at it and fell back into my father's arms. He carried me in his arms.

He walked with the young master out of the building. Then the red-haired man launched himself at Papa. Papa crouched down and Grell flew over him. My father started walking again.

"Why must you ignore me, Sebas-chan?!" Grell whined.

My father turned fast on his heel, glaring at Grell. "I've had enough! My daughter was close to death today! I'm tired of this ridiculousness! And never talk about my wife that way, ever again! Now back away, before I rip your head off." My father snarled. My eyes grew in shock. I wasn't the only one. The young master and Grell stared at him.

"Sebastian, I-" Grell started but my father growled again. He stormed off with me in his arms.

We were back in my room. He layed me down softly. I asked him to turn around as I checked my wound. I looked down at my chest. I gasped in shock. "I-It's all healed!"

"What?!" My father turned around quickly and looked. "That's impossible..."

"Why did they do this...?" I whispered.

"Do what?"

I let out a shaky breath. "I think they are bringing out my inner demonhound and demon princess. They're going to use me as a weapon..." I put my face in my hands. "What have I done...?"

Papa took my hands in his own. "Kitten, you have done nothing. This will all end soon. Trust me." He smiled a little. "Now rest."
