One hundred twenty years later-The sky turned a light amethyst as the sun rose over the horizon, awaking Adeline from her slumber. The sounds of the village flooded through the little hut Durkin and her shared.

Adeline hissed, pulling the blankets high over her head to block the sunlight. The covers were ripped violently from her hands and tossed on the ground. She groaned at her uncle, wishing he would let her sleep a little longer.

"If you don't get out of bed in five seconds, I'll dump cold water on your head."

She shot up out of bed and tumbled off the small thing. She grunted in pain as she laid face down on the floor. She cursed her uncle under her breathe and he laughed.

"Get dressed, you have training today." He strolled out of the hut before she could reply. She gave his retreating form a rather vulgar gesture before moseying on over to the bathing room.

She combed her fingers through her colorful hair, fixing the rat's nest that it became in the night. She splashed her face with cold water from the basin and wiped it with the closest cloth. Peering up at the mirror, her multicolored galaxy eyes glistened in the light. Her magenta skin appeared darker in the morning light, and she smiled at the fact she was finally tanning.

"Adeline, hurry up!"

She rolled her eyes at her uncle's shouting. She changed into her black training clothes, tank top and leggings, and walked through the village. Males and females rushed by, hurrying to work or off to hunt. She pulled her hair up behind her pointy ears as she finally reached the training area. She noticed a few others training, many of them preparing for patrol.

Her uncle whistled and she turned to see him standing behind her, wearing nothing but black, tight fitted shorts.

Durkin crossed his arms over his chest, flexing his biceps and abs which caused every female in range to pause and stare. His bluish green hair was swept to the right and swaying, just a tad, in the wind. His build and facial expression screamed warrior, the scars along his arms and chest only proving he has seen combat. She could not help but notice his plum purple skin was slightly paled.

I wonder what's bothering him, she thought.

"You know, if you wore a shirt they wouldn't stare all the time," She pointed out to him which only made him huff out a laugh.

"You say that every morning," he retorted.

"And yet every morning you still train shirtless."

He rolled his eyes and got into his fighting stance, signaling for her to do the same. The moment she was ready, he charged at her. Her instincts told her to flee, but she waited until the last second then she grabbed his left arm and flipped him onto his back.

He laid there on the ground for a few minutes before muttering, "You've gotten much faster."

"Fast enough that I can finally go out on patrol?"

Instead of answering, he grabbed her arm and pulled her down to the ground. She landed on her stomach, causing the air to be knocked out of her, and she turn over only to be pinned by Durkin.

His golden eyes with flecks of blue were ablaze. "As I explained before, you're not going."

She pulled her knees up to her chest and shoved him off. He landed to her right, so she grabbed his arms and pinned them to his chest.

"But I'm ready to go. You don't need to baby me," she protested.

He rammed his forehead into her face and she jumped back, cradling her nose. He did not hit her hard enough to make her nose bleed, but it still throbbed. While she was babying her nose, Durkin came up behind and shoved her into the dirt. He pinned her once more to the ground, making sure she could not move her arms and legs.
