Although I loved swimming, the process of getting dressed and walking to the pool was one that I definitely loathed. I always felt watched, as if all the other swimmers were peering at me with their judgemental eyes, silently wishing me away.

Sigh

"You better not be changing your mind about this," I looked at an idignant Chelsea, who was already dressed in her black one-piece swimsuit and pink shorts while her hair was stuffed into a blue silicone cap creating the illusion of her having an angular head. The visual was quite comical and I would have been laughing had I not been feeling so low.

"No," I sighed again, "I'm not chickening out. I need this. This week has not been good to me."

"Yeah, I know," her tone softened. "I'm really sorry Carmi."

"Ugh, don't be. It's not your fault. in fact if it wasn't for you, I'd be feeling much worse. Let's go do this." I wrapped my sea-green bathing towel around my body, which was clad in black bodysuit that reached my knees, and proceeded to hook my arm into Chelsea's while pulling her outside.

"Hey babe, you missed me?" I heard a voice call out behind me as we walked towards a set of three reclining chairs. Chelsea and I ignored the voice and carried on walking. He was probably just talking to his girlfriend.

"The rejection burns baby, it burns!"

Wow, what girlfriend would treat their boyfriend that way? I decided to take a look at this mystery girl just to satisfy my curiosity. Also, something about the voice sounded familiar.

I turned around and was faced with a set of tan, rock-hard abs.

"Oomph!" I lost my balance and tumbled backwards. I prepared myself for the collision with the hard, paved poolside surface but it never came. Instead I found myself caged within a pair of well worked out arms.

Embarrassed, I quickly scrambled out of the mystery guy's arms and mumbled a quick apology while I kept my eyes averted to the ground.

"Baby, there's no need for an apology. I love it when you are in my arms." the realization hit me so quickly it had my head spinning. I finally looked up to confirm my suspicion.

"Sean! What are you doing here?"

"Well, that's not the reaction I was expecting, especially after you invited me babe." he smirked.

I rolled my eyes in return, "I didn't invite you, you invited yourself. Ow! What was that for?"

I examined my arm to ensure that there were no bruises forming. Chelsea just ignored me and sent a warm smile torwards Sean as she introduced herself.

"Hi, I'm the best friend, Chelsea. It's nice to meet you Sean?" he nodded in confirmation. "So how do you two know each other?" she looked between us suspiciously - well she looked at me suspiciously.

"Keeping me your dirty little secret, are we now?" Sean snickered. I sighed in frustration and just opted to ignore him.

Douche!

"There is really nothing to the story. I ordered pizza and he delivered it. The crazy stalker took my number from the slip. The end," I rushed out.

"Oh really?" she questioned me unconvinced.

"Yes really," I snapped, "Now, are we going to swim today or not?"

"Yes we are," Sean replied excitedly. he proceeded to swing his arms around both our shoulders. I glared at him but he just ignored me and steered us towards our chairs.
