He never thought he'd need a mate. He's strong and independent and to be quite honest, he knew he didnt need the company of anyone. Maybe also because his responsibilities as an alpha and a leader preoccupies his mind from ever thinking about settling down with a mate. But after meeting and getting to know you, it finally starts nipping at his mind, how much greater itd be if he has you by his side at all times because as strong of a leader he is, he's quite soft on the inside and needs the occasional care and affection from others. He hates showing that side of him, it makes him insecure when people point it out, but you never do. Because you know that a strong leader can only be a great leader if they are empathetic people, filled with thoughtfulness and care. You give him that great affection he deserves.

The minute he trusted you with his secret as a werewolf, he also put all of his emotions in your care. He only ever trusts you with his feelings and therefore, soon fell in love with you. And although he's never felt pressured and rushed to find a mate, he knows if he ever does decide to finally settle down, it could only be you. But of course, he doesnt force it upon you, but you eventually start falling in love with him later on anyways.

The fact that hes a strong werewolf and youre a clumsy little human that gets into all kinds of silly accidents makes him have the urge to protect you from the world. Whenever youre beside him, he literally uwus at how small and soft you look. So naturally, he'd want you as his mate, so he can connect with you and protect you every step of the way. And he's made it clear that he wants to hold and protect you for however long you live.

From the very beginning, hes entrusted you with his secret as a werewolf and quite literally rubbed it in your face. So youve gotten used to him and hes gotten used to you. You get so attached to each other with pure innocence, loving each others company as friends. But when you start developing feelings for him and confess to him, it takes him back. because he's never had thoughts about you as a mate. He cherishes you more than anyone, for sure, but it'll definitely take time for him to start taking your love more seriously and finally realize that he, too, would love for you to be his mate.

The fact that you take care of him and make sure hes well through every and each of his wolf heat already forms a great connection between you two. Heats can be quite intimate and secretive, so having you by his side during those times develops the smallest of intimacy between you, which is something he never feels with anyone else despite his constant flirting with nearly everyone. At one point, he gets so used to having you care for him that youre always the only person on his mind. So eventually, the bond develops from that foundation and you agree to be his mate.

Because you've grown up under the same roof and you'd play with each other as small children, you've developed a sibling-like bond. So you've never really had romantic feelings towards one another until later when youre more mature and grown up. He realizes no one is as accepting of his werewolf self as you are. No one treats him as an equal as you do. So he starts to notice how special and important you are to him. He confesses his want of you as his mate one day and while it took you by surprise, you gave it a lot of thought, and eventually loved the idea.

You two have promised to each other to bond for life when you were still tiny little kids. It was out of pure enjoyment of each others company. So you two kind of grow up with this connection but you both never think too much of the title. To be his mate, to the both of you typically means that you'll be by each others side for life. And if thats how you view the relationship, thats how you accept it in the future as well.
