i'm not in love so don't forget it
it's just a silly phase i'm going through
"Pete, your mom wants to talk to you."
His innocent eyes looked up. What was supposed to be lively is empty.
"Come on, Pete." The grown man took the kid's walkman off his ear. "Take this fool thing off."
His trembling figure carefully and anxiously walked towards the hospital bed, holding his tears seeing his mother laying there helpless.
"Why have you been fighting with the other boys again, baby?" The beautiful yet fragile woman asked. He can't meet her eyes and just shrug. "Peter?" She asked again.
"They killed a little frog that ain't done nothin'. Smushed it with a stick."
Her eyes soften and she smiled. "You're so like your daddy. You even look like him. He was an angel. Composed out of pure light."
"Mer?" The man interrupted her. "You got a present for Peter there don't you?"
"Of course." Her weak hands touched the gift. "There."
The grown man put the gift on his backpack. "I got you covered, Pete."
"You open it up when I'm gone okay?" His tears starts to build up again, threatening to fall. "Your grandpa is gonna take such good care of you. At least until your daddy comes back to get you."
"Peter." She starts again knowing it's almost time for her to go. "Take my hand."
He looks away still in denial that his mother has to go soon. "Peter, take my hand." Her voice shaking, desperate to hold her son's hand one more time. But he still didn't budge and refused to look at her.
When he finally turns to face her,
she's gone.
"Mom?" His panic risen. "No! No! No! No!" His grandpa picked him up to get him outside.
"You've got to stay here. Please." That was the last thing he heard and at the moment he knew.
The universe took everything from him.
He ran to an open field to scream his heart out of the loss he just experienced, yet the universe proven him wrong.
Everything hasn't been taken away from him.
At least not until a light shone on his face. So bright he has to cover his face, and next thing he knew he's been taken.

there's a starman waiting in the sky
he'd like to come and meet us
but he thinks he'd blow our minds
"There's a starman waiting for me in the sky?" The little girl's innocent eyes light up listening with her father's walkman.
"Of course." He smiled at his precious bean.
"Is that why you and mom are going to space?" He chuckles at his daughter's enthusiasm. "Yes, honey."
"I want to go to space too!"
"It's your destiny. Eight years ago when you were born all we see is a star. That's why we name you Nova. You," He points his daughter chest. "-belong up there."
Her smile widens, teeth shining brighter than stars. "I'm gonna be an astronaut!"
She was so happy. Proud of her parents for going to space. But the universe has a different plan.
"Ms. Sterling, we are sorry to tell you that your parents- they didn't make it."
She never would have expected that one phone call can make her nightmares come true.
She thought the universe took everything from her.
But turns out,
not everything yet.
Everything was lost that fateful day. What was supposed to be a happy and amazing day turns out to be the day she lost herself.
There's a starman waiting in the sky
He's told us not to blow it
Cause he knows it's all worthwhile
She was listening to the mixtape her father made her on her father's walkman. She was sent on a mission to explore space 9 years later. She was so happy that the dream she has to honor her parents came true.
Yet the universe thought her loss wasn't enough.
She lost her parents but that day,
she lost herself.
A star exploded right in front of her eyes and all she remembers ever since is darkness.
He said there's a starman waiting for me in the sky yet all I see is darkness.
