"Paris is always a good idea."                                                                                                                                                                              -Audrey Hepburn

Paris.

The city of love. Some were there to find it, Some were there to embrace it, and some were there to finalize it and make it permenant for the rest of they're lives.

Except for Luke.

Infact Luke wasn't there for any of those reasons. No, he was there to escape it.

You see he was with his girlfriend of 2 years in Italy and they were going to visit her grandparents house...

Flashback: 13 hours ago

"Stella remind why were here again?" Luke groaned as he tapped his foot impatiently staring at his girlfriend. Stella giggled "I told you my nonna (grandma) and nonno (grandpa) have great news!" "Well it better be important." Luke stated, trying to be serious but eventually cracked a smile at his girlfriend. He loved seeing her happy. "Genero!" Stella's grandfather belted and walked down the stairs, his big round stomach following which reminded Luke of Santa.

Luke's eyes widened briefly. "Stell did he just say son in law?" His eyes glancing at her. "Si!" Stella's grandmother chirped as Stella's grandfather gave Luke a tight hug. "Well why did you?" Luke answered nervously. "That's the great news Luke!" Stella beamed as her grandparents nodded. Luke took 5 shaky steps back. "Okay will somebody please just tell me what's going on?" His voice wavering at the end.

"Well mio figilio... isn't it obvious?" Stella's grandmother replied. "Apparently not and why are you calling me son?"  Luke was beyond confused at this point.

"Well...You and my beautiful granddaughter are getting married!" Stella's grandfather boomed and locked both teens in a tight embrace. Except while one was rejoicing the other was completely full of fear, shock, and guilt.

Stella's smile dropped while she locked gazes with Luke. "Luke you're happy right?" She nervously asked. Luke put on his best smile "Of course I am Stella." He responded. But the truth was he wasn't happy at all. "I'm 18!" He thought to himself. "I'm not ready to get married!"

"I'm going to go use the restroom." Luke said as he made his way over to it. "Of course of course! Be quick though! We have much preparation to do for the wedding!" Stella's grandfather shouted after Luke but he had already shut the bathroom door and locked it before sitting on the toilet contemplating everything. "I can't do this." He muttered to himself being careful not to be too loud.

Then after looking around the bathroom for anything that could help his situation his eyes settled on a window in the back of the room. After taking nervous glances back to the door he made his way to the window and opened it up.

"Luke?" A small voice said while light taps on the door could be heard. "Luke? You okay in there?" Stella. He thought as he cleared his voice "I'm fine just um...that meatball sub is taking a hit."  "Ew Lucas! Just hurry up!" She responded and Luke waited till he could hear footsteps walking away till he slipped through the window. "I can't just leave like this." Luke quickly ripped a piece of paper from a magazine and grabbed a pen from a cabinet as he wrote in his usual handwriting.

I can't do this Stella I'm sorry.

I hope you find someone whose ready to make this commitment.

                                                                                              -Love,

                                                                                               Luke

After capping the pen back up and placing everything back to its rightful place, he placed the note on the sink. His gaze dropped to the promise ring on his ring finger and after what seemed like forever he took it off and carefully placed it on top of the note.

After unlocking the door he quickly climbed through the window making sure to not get his long legs stuck. He then shut it and brushed himself off, fixing his hair, and letting out a shaky sigh as he hung his head and stuffed his hands in his jean pockets.

He stopped a cab and got in, almost getting his sweatshirt  stuck in the door. "Dove? (where to)" The cab driver asked. "Paris, France." He told him. He had settled on that in the bathroom. The driver gave a quick nod and made his way down the bustling streets of Rome.

Luke shut his eyes, knowing this was going to be a long drive. "Around 11 hours to be exact." He stated in his mind. His mind came to loads of memories about Stella.

Their first date. Their first kiss. Meeting her parents. Meeting his parents. The promise ring. The...well you know.

Luke shook his head vigorously knowing he would have to forget about that. He was going to Paris now."A new beginning." He assured himself. Soon all thoughts about Stella had drifted away.

Finally he muttered one last thing before drifting into a deep sleep.

"Goodbye Stella."
