"Josiah, Chrissy!" Ruth screamed. "It's time for supper."
They walked down the hill towards the house to wash up for supper. They all sat at the table with an abundance of food surrounding them.
"Mama," Chrissy called.
"Yes, Chrissy." Her mother replied.
"Josephine and Joseph went to the Sahara."
"They did?" Her mother asked with curiosity.
"Mmhm",Chrissy nodded with a smile.
As they were eating the phone rang. Ruth pushed her chair from the table to go answer the phone.
"Hello." Ruth answered.
"May i speak to a Mr. Josiah Dumas?" The person on the other end asked.
Ruth peaked around the corner and motioned Josiah to the phone. He walked to where his wife was standing and grabbed the phone. He carried on a conversation with the person on the other end for about three minutes. At the end of the conversation he slowly put the phone down and walked back to the dinner table. He sat quietly. Ruth saw the worry on her husbands face.
"Chrissy, lets get you washed up for bed." Ruth said trying to give Josiah some time alone. She bathed Chrissy and sent her to bed. Josiah was still sitting at the table that was scrubbed clean by the time Ruth came back to check on him. She leaned over, kissed him on the cheek, and headed back upstairs to bed.
