FOR KADE, THIS WAS A completely normal morning. The birds were singing, the flowers were blooming, and kids like you that have stumbled on this book should be burning in hell. Kade was only partly aware that his tie was barely on and his blazer was all messed up; he has just, after all, arrived part-way into the school assembly, as he woke up very late and had to sprint to school. He could see the teacher making movements, presenting things on the power point, yet he still couldn't focus; he was in a complete daze. His sleep-deprived brain was barely just running on 5% battery, and he was sure he was about to slump down and fall back to sleep right where he was standing.

However, he suddenly felt the world all the way around him become completely hushed. There was no one talking, or whispering- even the teacher went completely silent. One thing he took note of when he was gazing around was that everyone was looking at him expectantly, almost like they expected something marvellous to happen.

"Now, I have a surprise for you all!"

Kade turned back to the teacher on the stage presenting, completely perplexed. What surprise? With the way everybody peered at him with incredible eagerness, it seemed as if he turned into a whole 'nother being right in front of their eyes.

The maroon stage curtain ruffled, and under it stepped out the one person that made Kade's eyes light up, and whole being flush in a pleasant, red tint.

Oscar.

To be incredibly honest with himself, Kade actually liked Oscar since day one; but how was he supposed to confess his feelings to him? It would be too cheesy. (and too gay!)So, so far, Kade has kept himself distanced from Oscar. He can't show his feelings if he's not near the person he likes, correct?

But now, that Oscars gazing into Kade's eyes, Kade can't help but be flustered, especially because he is the centre of attention. The whole schools got their eyes on them both, despite the fact that Kade is standing in the crowd. The beautiful, rose engraved mahogany guitar Oscar is holding in his hands gleams under the school's spotlight, and his microphone suddenly lets out a crackle.

"We are runnin' so fast

And we never look back

And whatever I lack, you make up

We make a really good team

And not everyone sees

We got this crazy chemistry

Between us

Jump starting your car 'cause this city's a bore

Buying e-cigarettes at the convenience store

Making new clichés on our own little tour

Let's ride

You don't have to say I love you to say I love you

Forget all the shooting stars and all the silver moons

We've been making shades of purple out of red and blue

Sickeningly sweet like honey, don't need money

All I need is you

All I need is you, you

We try staying up late

But we both are lightweights

Yeah we get off our face, too easy

And we take jokes way too far

And sometimes living's too hard

We're like two halves of one heart

We are, we are, we are

All I need is you

All I need is you, you

Eat a pill stay and chill, you don't need to go

I'm about to bring emo back if you leave my home

I'd panic at the disco and you'd rather watch a TV show

Then I'll squeeze your booty real hard like I'm kneading dough

Pizza boy, I'm speeding for ya

We can get married tonight if you really wanna

Me in a cheap suit like a sleazy lawyer

And if you break this Lil' heart, it'd be an honour

All I need is you

All I need is you, you"

As Oscar's fingers strum the last note, he looks back up at Kade, eyes glowing.

"So, Kade, will you go to prom with me?"

Kade couldn't help but cry tears filled to the brim with positive emotions, mainly relief and delight. Oscar actually asked him to prom!

"Yes! Yes!" making his way up to the front of the crowd, Kade couldn't but tremble slightly as Oscar grasped Kade's wrist and pulled him up onto the stage...It was a truly refreshing feeling, finally being able to be close to Oscar again.

"Now, I have another surprise for you..." Oscar smiled, yet his words were snappy and hushed. It concerned Kade quite a bit- after all, Oscar was kind of stupid and his surprises' were always kind of astounding.

Chatter broke out all around the stage, and the crowd seemed excited! Maybe they were happy for Kade & Oscar? They all looked incredibly eager to find out what the outcome of this would be. But as his schoolmates got louder and louder, Kade figured out they were actually chanting something, not just chatting.

'sacrifice'' sacrifice'' SACRIFICE!'

The ringing in Kade's ears was unbearable, in fact, he felt sick and his head felt like it was underwater- he was going to vomit.

"Our god needs fresh blood."

Oscars' voice was hollow & cold.

"I'm his messenger and I have chosen you as our god's gift!"

The crack of bones was heard as Oscar split his jaw open in multiple places, and blood was starting to trickle from his mouth, forming an extensive sticky puddle of bright red, which slowly ran and stopped at Kade's black kickers. Oscars' cheeks were gruesomely ripped open to be able to fit his stretchy jaw, yet he didn't seem to be bothered about the bottom part of his jaw which was almost completely disconnected from his skull.

Tears ran down Kade's cheeks, yet however much he tried to scream, he couldn't beat the chanting; adrenaline trickled into his veins, yet he couldn't escape. His heart beats against his ribcage, so fast you'd think it was impossible.

Kade could see the blurry, bloody figure of Oscar come closer flexing his popped jaw, which ready to swallow his meal.

"You are special. You are a chosen sacrifice."

For Kade, this was not a normal morning, but it was also his last.
