I unlocked the door with my keys. As soon as I stepped in, I smelt lit candles. I wondered what was going on. I shut the door behind me and put my bag on the floor. I stared at the many candles scattered all over the place. What was this about?
I walked up to my room, when I saw my mum in there. "Phil? Are you back?" "Uh yes mum." I replied, confused. "Ur early..." Mum said. "I know. We had a half day mum." She always forgot things. "Oh i must have forgotten." She mumbled.
I walked back down to get a snack. What was mum doing? She had her back turned when she was in my room. Suspicious. I went and got an apple from the fruit bowl. Then I heard the doorbell ring. Hmmm who was there. No one used to ring our doorbell.
Then I saw mum. She had loads of makeup on. Why? She never used to. She was wearing a fancy dress. What the hell. The doorbell rang again. "I'm coming, hun." What?! Who was hun? "Right Phil, you're going to have to be home alone for a bit okay. If you have any problems then call my mobile okay. Don't worry I'll be back by 6. Bye darling."
Before I could say anything, she walked out the door. I saw a glimpse of the person at the door. He was in a smart outfit. Mum kissed him. Why didn't she tell me? Was I going to get a step-dad? No, I didnt want one. This was going terribly wrong.
