3rd Person POV
Beca continues to mix all afternoon, or maybe tries to mix. The songs just aren’t doing what she wants them to, and it only makes her try harder as she gets frustrated. It’s just after six PM when Jesse’s hand on her back makes her jump.
“Ah!....Holly fuck Jesse, not OK!” She yells, and glares at his chuckling form.
“You still loose yourself so easily in that. I was just testing it I guess.” He smiles and she rolls her eyes.
“Yes, I still get into it. Plus, I have headphones which cause me to not hear anything. We’ve had this argument before, so what do you want?” She asks, sort of irritated as she looks at the computer, longing to work on it more.
“It’s after six…Your meeting Jess at seven so…” He says and Beca’s eyes widen.
“Oh! Yea, thanks for reminding me. Uh, what were you doing?” She asks, looking around the room she hadn’t been paying attention to for hours.
“Nothing really, just reading.” He says gesturing to the small stack of worn books next to his open bag.
“You read, for over four hours?” She asks and he shrugs.
It was so unlike him. Jesse didn’t really hate reading but he’d rather watch a movie or listen to music before read a book any day. Of course he didn’t really have those options…Beca shook her head of thoughts as she stands, saying she’s going to take a quick shower.
Once in the bathroom she takes a deep breath, going over how dramatic her new life is appearing to turn out.
She showers and dresses in a navy skirt with a red tank and a floral top tucked in. She decides to slip on some lace pattern tights and her boots and she’s ready to go.
“Jesse?” She calls out as she doesn’t find him in either the living room or the kitchen, the bathroom is also empty and she starts to panic. She finds a note held to the fridge by a magnate.
‘First, stop freaking out! I’ll be back! Please leave, go to dinner, I promise to be there when you get back. Please try to trust me on this Bec! I’m just trying to do the best that I can! See you soon.
Love, Jesse’
The note is sweet and calms Beca immediately. She smiles and takes a deep breath; her eyes catch the coffee machine clock, 6:48. Quickly grabbing her shoulder bag, making sure she has everything, including a key, she debates locking it. Jesse didn’t have a key… something catches her eye on the back of note still in her hand-shed planned to fold it and keep it on her- a PS.
‘PS. I found your spare key in your bag, it said ‘spare key’ on a sticky note…I hope its ok I took it.’
That’s all it says and it makes Beca shake her head, as she folds the yellow paper and pockets it. She’s smiling as she reaches the lobby, waving to Brittany as she comes in. The strawberry blonde gives her a weird look.
“I’m assuming I’ll have to tell Anna that guy you had last night is taken?” She asks with her own knowing look and Beca’s eyes widen.
“No! Uh…well yes. It’s sort of complicated…There’s a history and…” She lets it trail off, hoping the girl won’t ask for more details.
“Ah, I get it. I’ll still have to keep her away. She likes to sink her teeth into anything around, as I’m sure you’ve noticed. I’m just glad our rooms are on opposite sides of the apartment.” She jokes and Beca smiles a bit awkwardly.
