Chapter Two --- The Big Meeting! (Part One)

Isabella's pov --

Beep. Beep. Beep.

I groaned as I pressed the snooze button on my alarm. I sat up and swung my feet off the side of my bed before going into the washroom and taking a warm shower.

My head had been crowded with the thoughts of what I had agreed with yesterday with my boss, Carrie.

(Flashback)

"Well, Isabelle." She started, adjusting a picture of her and Justin on her desk. "Isabella." I corrected her mentally.

"You know how me and my husband Justin have been trying for kids?" I looked at her. I don't really wanna know that. I hope the poor kid isn't like you. "Well we haven't succeeded so far and we are really in a rush to start our family...so we were wondering."

Oh no, where is this going?

This better not be going where I think it's going. No. No and no.

"Would you be nice enough to be our surrogate mother?"

(End of Flashback)

I knew I had made a big decision saying yes and frankly, it scared the hell out of me. I don't wanna give birth. Too bad Iz, I thought to myself, already too late. If there was one thing I knew about Carrie was that she was really stubborn, that's how she won all of her cases.

I had gotten out of the shower and blow-dryed my hair before getting dressed and brushing my teeth. I slid my pair of black pumps with a tight black skirt and blazer with a light blue blouse. I let my hair flow into it's natural waves before walking downstairs and grabbing my coffee. It got lonely here in my apartment sometimes I admit, but the quietness really was pleasing.

I walked out my front door before catching the elevator and going to the lobby. Walking out, I noticed Elm and waved before pushing the heavy door open to the hotel before crossing the street to the parking garage. I got to my car and got in, hearing the engine purr to life before pulling out.

I arrived in the law firm's parking garage and got out, grabbing my bag before walking to the elevator. The elevator dinged and I walked out, going to my desk to lay my things down.

"Well I don't know any other way! Why don't you tell me." I heard. I glanced into the opaque windows of Carrie's office and saw her pacing and yelling into her iPhone.

"Really? You know what, she's the only person I can count on! Not like you or anyone else can help me." And with that she ended the call. Wonder who was that tough enough to spark an argument with Carrie.

"Isabella! Come here please."

How did she know I was here?

I sighed and did a once over in my compact mirror before walking into her office. "Yes ma'am?" I asked, holding my hands behind my back.

"I need you to take over for today. I'm going home." She said, packing up her things. "And remember to be at Frenchie's tonight at five. Bye." She said and marched out of her office with her high-priced tote bag and briefcase.

I looked at her and bit weirdly before just shrugging it off and doing the normal things Carrie would on a daily bases.

I had gotten to my apartment and walked in when my phone went off. I pulled it out of my bag and Siri spoke up. "You have a meeting with Carrie and Justin at five p.m." I glanced up at my clock and my eyes widened. I only had thirty minutes to get ready. Not that I was wanting to impress anyone, I just wanted to look approachable.

I rushed to my bedroom and got a shower before getting out and blow-drying my hair. After I finished, I walked to my closet and got dressed before grabbing my Chanel bag and a black blazer. I let my hair flow naturally before walking out of my apartment.

I got to the parking garage and as soon as I got into my car I felt nervous. My reason why? What would go on tonight? Would I get the courage to revoke mothering Carrie's first child? I don't know why since I'm around her every day, but it was getting to me. I began driving to the restaurant and once I arrived I parked and took a deep breathe. I stepped out of my car and continued into the restaurant. I spotted Carrie's blonde, bouncy hair with Justin sitting beside her in a corner booth, and headed over nervously.

Here we go.
